It is a little drive from Destin, but so worth it to avoid some of the crowds. Sit out on the sand and look at the magnificent ocean or go on one of the longest piers in Florida that stretches out 1545 feet and 30 feet above the water. You can only reach this by boat, making it an alluring option for those who want to get away from it all. The waters are perfect for taking a quick swim and you can sit back on the beach to enjoy some of the boats that go by.

Henderson Beach State Park

With more than 6,000 feet of scenic shoreline and some of the most beautiful waters from the Gulf of Mexico, Henderson Beach is a great place to start. This is one of the best places for sunbathing, swimming, and fishing, and many tourists report seeing dolphins in the area as well. In addition to plenty of scenic things to see by the beach, this state park provides nature trails, playgrounds, and plenty of abundant wildlife. Bring out a tent and spend the weekend just minutes from the beach.

This is a 3-mile long peninsula that has some pristine beaches surrounded by gorgeous sidewalks and plenty of gazebos to relax in.
