Welcome in the New Year with a Great Heartwarming and Inspirational Movie the Whole Family Will Enjoy -- Overcomer is Available to Own Now on Digital, Blu-ray and DVD! (Review) #overcomermovie

Disclosure: I was sent a screener from the vendor in exchange for an honest review. All views shared are mine and mine alone.

In addition to catching up with the stack of books I have been meaning to read since the end of the summer, I also used the little winter break from blogging to watch some new movie releases that were sent my way recently and I was looking forward to watching this family.  We had to get through all the Christmas movies that the girls pulled for our movie advent, before I could share other movies with them.  So, as soon as Santa came and left goodies for the girls, the tree came down a few days later, and the holiday movies were put away, and the stack of movies waiting to be seen were pulled out and put on the DVD stand near the television, to be watched.  The first movie that we watched was Overcomer.

(Also available on Blu-ray and Digital)

This movie released to digital back on November 26th, and then came out on Blu-ray and DVD on December 17th.  Unless you picked it up to gift it for the holidays, you may have missed this movie in stores, as most people were in holiday mode and were only watching holiday-themed movies from this home movie collection or on television.  But, now that the holidays are over and we are starting the new year, I thought now would be the perfect time to share some great family-friendly movies worth picking up to share with your family.  Here is more about Overcomer, including the official movie trailer...

"High school basketball coach John Harrison and his team face an uncertain future when their town's largest manufacturing plant shuts down unexpectedly. As hundreds of people move away, John reluctantly agrees to coach cross-country, a sport he doesn't even like. His outlook soon changes when he meets Hannah Scott, an unlikely runner who pushes herself to the limit. Inspired by the words and prayers of a new friend, John starts to train Hannah for the biggest race of her young life."

I really wanted to see this movie when it was in theaters, but it was in limited release near us, and no movie theaters near us had the movie playing. So, I had to add it to our list of movies that we want to pick up and watch at home when they release to DVD and Blu-ray.  I was tempted to buy it on digital when it released near Thanksgiving, but I had showed my mom the trailer when we went to her house for Thanksgiving dinner, and she said she, too, wanted to see it.  So, I knew that a Blu-ray or DVD copy would be better so that I could pass it along to her to see after we were done watching it. But, before I could pre-order a copy, the find folks at Sony Pictures sent along a screener for my review.

This past weekend, we watched Overcomer as our Friday night movie night, and it was a hit with everyone, including my husband.  We ended up watching the bonus content after the movie, which included bloopers, bonus scenes, a director's commentary and a fun lip sync music video featuring Mandisa, that had us all laughing and singing along to.  What a great way to welcome in 2020...with a a great movie that had us all cheering for Hannah Scott and the coach.

As you can tell by the movie trailer about, this movie does have some faith-based content to it, but it isn't overpowering, and can be enjoyed by all faiths and religious backgrounds. It really is an inspirational movie the whole family will enjoy.  As we sat and watched the movie, we found ourselves smiling one minute, laughing the next, and then on the edge of our seats the next cheering on Hannah as she trained and ran, giving it her all each and every time.

I could go on and on about just how great this family-friendly movie is, but, instead, why don't you pick it up and watch it with your family for an upcoming family movie night, and see why my family and so many other families are calling this a must see and must own inspirational and heartwarming movie for the new year.  We are planning to watch this movie again come the weekend, as we haven't been able to stop talking about it since watching it Friday night.  Everyone agreed that this is one movie we will not grow tired of, and that we will enjoy watching time and time again.
