Mill Creek Entertainment

One of my favorite things about Christmas time is all the holiday movies that air on television, and that become available to own on DVD and Blu-Ray.  This year, I am excited to add five new Christmas-themed movies to my family's growing holiday movie collection to watch this year, and for years to come, thanks to the folks at Mill Creek Entertainment.

What I love about Mill Creek Entertainment next to their affordable movie releases to DVD, Blu-ray and to their streaming service, MovieSpree, is that they always have a wonderful selection of movies the whole family will enjoy.  And, their new November/December releases which include the following holiday movies are sure to delight families as they enjoy quality time together watching a good holiday movie, girlfriends who come together to watch a good romance Christmas story (you can never see too many), or for moms looking to unwind after a long day, and want to watch a holiday movie while they wrap gifts or simply relax with a glass of wine, with their feet up.

Here are five new Christmas-themed releases from Mill Creek Entertainment that would make a great addition to your family's movie collection.  If you do a movie advent countdown, some of these movies would be great surprise movies for your kids to unwrap and enjoy in the evenings, as you count down to Christmas.

My Thoughts:

I love when they come out with DVDs like these that offer a handful of holiday movies all in one collection.  Fans of Lifetime channel will notice some familiar movies, as these five movies have all aired previously on Lifetime.  I remember two of the movies, and couldn't wait to see these again, along with the three others.

My husband is not big into watching romantic Christmas movies as he knows how they always end, and saw the stories are all the same, just didn't people playing them.  So, I never sit and watch these movies around him, as I don't want him ruining the movie experience. For the past few nights I have watched these great holiday movies after everyone was in bed sleeping. Yes, each of the story lines are predictable, but there is something about holiday movies like these that leave you smiling at the end, with each and every happily ever after.

If you are looking for some new holiday romance movies to watch as you count down to Christmas, you will definitely want to check out this DVD collection of 5 As Seen on Lifetime movies, available now for only $19.98!

My Thoughts:

I was so excited to see this movie arrive on DVD, as both of my watched it over and over again last year when it was streaming on Netflix.  You may recall the other day me sharing a new picture book based on this Netflix movie, and I mentioned I would be sharing a DVD review -- here you go! :-)  When my girls saw this movie arrive at our door the other day, they had me read the Angela's Christmas book to them first, and then we settled in on the couch to watch this heartwarming animated movie about a little girl who steals the baby Jesus from the Nativity scene at her church, as she felt bad that he had no clothes.

This is one of those holiday movies that will make you tear up, and leave you smiling when the movie ends.  It is truly a wonderful movie that the whole family will enjoy watching this year and for many more Christmas's to come.

About this movie:

"A not-so-ordinary elf named Elfette (Brielle Carter) finds her vacation in Florida cut short when there’s suddenly a Christmas emergency-- Santa Claus (Quinton Aaron) has been kidnapped by the New York Mafia’s crime boss, Little Georgie (George Vricos)!  Elfette to the rescue!  Upon arriving in New York, Elfette finds herself lost in a human world she doesn’t understand and with a lunatic elf hunter named Ernest Killingsworth III (Zachary Vasquez) in hot pursuit. To save the day and prove herself as an extra special elf, she must team up with her best friend Sparkle (Aléa Figueroa) to save Christmas, Santa, and the elves before Christmas is ruined for the entire world!"

Notable Cast/Crew:
  • Quinton Aaron known for Michael Oher, aka Big Mike, alongside Oscar winner Sandra Bullock, in the Academy Award winning hit movie, The Blind Side (2009),
  • Alea Figueroa known for Ballers (2015), Killer Island (2018) and Gotta Kill 'Em All.
  • Kenneth McGregor known for X-Men (2000), The Hurricane (1999) and The Piano (1993)
  • Brielle Carter known for Love Hurts (2018) and Running with Violet (2017).

My Thoughts:

If you love the elf movie featuring Will Farrell, you will want to check out this movie which is about a girl elf who comes to NYC to help save Santa.  She is an elf in a human world, and will have to fit in and work with her best friend Sparkle the elf to save Santa and Christmas. My girl sat and watched this movie with me last weekend and loved it.  Yes, they said it was silly, but it was a good holiday movie, and they loved seeing the elf played by a girl.

About this movie:

"Wrestling legend Hulk Hogan stars as an evil millionaire who gets amnesia during the holiday season and becomes convinced that he is Santa Claus. This less-than-conventional Santa is using his new identity to fight crime and bring good cheer to all good boys and girls. You better watch out!"

Trailer Link:   https://youtu.be/Ynk-anflcOc

My Thoughts:

We already owned this movie on DVD, but was happy to see it released it Blu-ray, as now my girls could bring it with them to my parents house and watch on Christmas Day, when we head there for dinner.  Yes, the man dressed as Santa in the cover art above is none other than Hulk Hogan and the young girl with the dark hair is Mila Kunis.  This was her first feature film debut way back when.  If your loves movies that they can put on and not have to worry about thinking about, but will entertain you, then Santa with Muscles is the movie for you.  You will laugh at this nonsensical movie, while finding yourself wanting to watch it time and time again...just because.

  • Dove Approved for ALL AGES

My Thoughts:

If you watch The Good Doctor on television, then you will recognize Nicholas Gonzalez, who is on the cover of the movie with Erin Cahill.  I had no idea he did movies like this, and couldn't wait to sit down and watch it.  Like all other romantic holiday movies, you will not be surprised at the story line playing out.  The cast of characters each has their own back story, and when they come together, you get a magical Christmas movie that will have you wishing these were true stories and that everyone could experience this love at the holidays.  And, be sure to check out the bonus features which include a behind the scenes look at the movie, as well as cast interviews.  I can't wait to pass this movie along to my girlfriends to watch as they get ready for the holidays, as I know they will love watching it just as much as I did.
