Disney's Descendants 3 is Now Available to Own on DVD -- Run Out and Get Your Copy Now! (Review) #descendants3 #disneychannel

Disclosure:  I was sent a screener from the vendor in exchange for an honest review. All views shared are mine and mine alone.

Did you and your family catch the world premiere of Descendants 3 when it aired on the Disney Channel last Friday?  My girls had been eagerly awaiting the release of this new Descendants movie since they found out the third installment was in the works last year.  And, just like with birthdays and special occasions/events, they had last Friday marked off on their calendars, to make sure we were home and didn't have anything to do.  They reminded me earlier in the week that they had to be home Friday night as they wanted to watch the movie as it premiered.  When Friday rolled around, I surprised them by showing them the Descendants 3 DVD, which arrived in the mail that morning.  My youngest let out the biggest scream, that I think the lady down the street could hear.  She was super excited (her words) that not only did I have the DVD so that they she could watch it over and over again (of which she has), but that she could watch the new installment before most other people.

My daughters, within a few minutes of grabbing the DVD, had popcorn made and the couch and living room all ready for a their Descendants 3 screening.  They moved things out of the way in order to make sure they had ample dance space for the musical numbers.  Once their preparations for watching the movie were done, the real fun began.  I have to admit, I am also a fan of Disney's Descendants movies.  But, after hearing of one of the young star's, Cameron Boyce, passed away in July, I wondered how my girls would handle seeing him in the movie, knowing that this was his film.  Both of my girls are big Carlos fans, and I could tell with the opening song, that they were both a little upset, watching his sing and dance along with the other cast members.  My youngest daughter gets emotional like I do with movies (both happy and sad ones), and she reached for a tissue and handed me one, as we both started to tear up.  Such a shame that the world lost such an amazing actor, and I can only imagine the hurt his family is feeling right now.

Descendants 3 picks up where the second movie ends off, in that four villain kids from the Isle of the Lost would be chosen to come to Auradon Prep for school.  You would think that this would be a happy time, more kids having a chance to make a better life for themselves in Auradon, and a proposal from the Prince to Mal, but an epic battle between good and evil ensues.  As Mal, Evie, Carlos and Jay were leaving the Isle of the Lost, Mal's father, Hades, tried to get through the barrier, which jeopardized the the safety of Auradon.  And, if that wasn't enough Princess Audrey turns wicked and starts casting spells on Auradon, causing people to turn to stone or be put in a deep sleep.  It is up to Mal and her friends to save the island...but, they can't do it alone.  They end up needing the help of an unlikely person, Uma, the villain.

Synopsis:

"The saga of good versus evil continues as the VKs Mal, Evie, Carlos and Jay return to the Isle of the Lost to recruit a new batch of villainous offspring to join them at Auradon Prep. When a barrier breach jeopardizes the safety of Auradon during their departure off the Isle, Mal resolves to permanently close the barrier, fearing that Uma and Hades will wreak vengeance on the kingdom. Despite her decision, a dark force threatens the people of Auradon, and it’s up to Mal and the VKs to save everyone in their most epic battle yet."

From start to finish Descendants 3 pulled viewers in and had them glued to the screen.  And, every time a musical number or dance came on the screen, you couldn't help but want to tap your feet or get up and dance and sing.  All the songs, like in the past Descendants movie are catchy and after hearing the chorus one time, kids will be singing along.  My girls were loving the movie, and sad when it ended.  They both agreed that this was their favorite of the Descendants movies.  After sitting for some time after talking about their favorite parts of the film, the girls both agreed that they hope there is a Descendants 4 as they want to see Mal and the Prince marry.  But, they also wonder how the franchise will continue with Carlos no longer being there.  Will they write Cameron Boyce's death into the movie to show why Carlos isn't there anymore.  Would the cast want to make another movie without their friend?  These were all questions my girls were asking each other and me.  I told them that we would just have to wait and see.  For now, though, we could enjoy this movie any time we wanted now that we owned the DVD.  And, since receiving, the girls have watched the movie over a dozen times.  There have been some days they have sat and watched it back to back or twice in one day.  We have watched the movie at home and in the car, and the girls are not growing tired of it.  They even pooled their movie to buy the new Descendants 3 dolls they saw at Target, so that they could act out scenes from the movie.

I could go on and on about how great Descendants 3 is, and why it is a movie not to be missed.  Hopefully you didn't miss its premiere. But, if you did, you can still catch it on the Disney Channel -- check out your local listings -- as they have continued to play the movie along with the previous two Descendants movie. Once you see the movie, though, you will want to own to DVD, which released in stores on August 6th, to add to your Descendants DVD collection.  As I am writing this post, my girls are watching the movie again for movie night.  And, they both stopped to tell me to make sure to tell all my readers, that this is a great movie that the whole family will enjoy.  So, if you are looking for a fun family-friendly movie to watch this weekend, why not consider picking up the new Descendants 3 DVD.  And, be sure to make time to check out the bonus extras included with the DVD including a laugh out loud blooper real, deleted scenes, and an "Under the Seas: A Descendants Short Story."
