My youngest daughter and husband are huge Pokemon fans. So, when they heard that "Pokemon the Movie: The Power of Us" was coming to theaters that Thanksgiving, they added it to the calendar and were counting down the days until Nov. 24th when they planned to go to the movies to see it. Unfortunately, my husband got sick, and then my two girls did, so plans for the movie date had to be scrapped. Both my husband and daughter were upset as they really wanted to see this Pokemon movie. But, I told them that the movie would probably come to DVD, and if and when it did, we would pick it up and they could watch it at home, as often as they wanted.
I kept an eye out for the release of the movie, and was excited when I found that VIZ was releasing the movie on Blu-Ray disc the end of March of this year. I reached out to the VIZ folks and they graciously sent along a review copy for my family to enjoy. And, for a recent family movie night, we all sat to watch Pokemon The Movie: The Power of Us. My oldest daughter and I are not big fans of Pokemon, but we sat and watched this as a family, and were glad we did, as we both found ourselves getting into the movie, and really liking it.

If you are fan of Pokemon, you probably were already in the know about this recent movie release. But, if you have a Pokemon fan in your life, and are looking for a fun surprise gift to give them, or even want a fun movie to watch for an upcoming family movie night, this is one movie I would recommend. This all-new feature film can be watched without watching previous Pokemon movies, which I love, as I wasn't a big Pokemon fan before sitting for this movie. As the synopsis above and the trailer show, this movie centers around the annual Wind Festival, and has Ash and 5 residents coming together to the festival and population. You will be drawn in right from the start with this movie, as it is full of action and adventure. What I liked about this movie is that you really got to know the 5 residents and their backgrounds and character traits, so you find yourself being able to understand the story line better, as you know the characters. Overall this is a nicely done adventure film that will delight Pokemon fans of all ages. With fun characters, creatures and story line, Pokemon The Movie: The Power of Us will become an instant favorite with fans, and be one of those movies you want to watch time and again.

Pokemon was always a hit in my house. I think my nephew would enjoy this movie also!
