LEGO fans of all ages have been awaiting the release of The LEGO Movie 2, which arrives on DVD and Blu-ray this upcoming Tuesday. If you can't wait until Tuesday, you can purchase a digital copy of the movie, which is available now.  We ended up seeing this animated movie three times, when it was in theaters this past February.   Yes, you read that right...three times.  Usually we don't see a movie that often, but this one was so good, and we wanted to see it again and again on the big screen.  Not only was the "Everything is Possible" song catchy and would stick in our heads for days, but the story line for this much anticipated sequel was good.  In my opinion, I liked this one better than the first The LEGO Movie.

Here is more about The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part, which arrives on Blu-ray and DVD this Tuesday, and is available now on Digital....

Synopsis:

"It’s been five years since everything was awesome and the citizens are now facing a huge new threat: LEGO DUPLO® invaders from outer space, wrecking everything faster than it can be rebuilt. The battle to defeat the invaders and restore harmony to the LEGO universe will take Emmet (Chris Pratt), Lucy (Elizabeth Banks), Batman (Will Arnett) and their friends to faraway, unexplored worlds, including a galaxy filled with fantastic planets, strange characters and catchy new songs. It will test their courage, creativity and Master Building skills, and reveal just how special they really are.

Reprising their starring roles from the first film are Chris Pratt as Emmet, Elizabeth Banks as Lucy (aka Wyldstyle), Will Arnett as LEGO Batman, Alison Brie as Unikitty, Nick Offerman as MetalBeard, and Charlie Day as Benny. They are joined by Tiffany Haddish and Stephanie Beatriz as new characters Queen Watevra Wa'Nabi and General Mayhem, respectively, and by Maya Rudolph. "

“The LEGO® Movie 2: The Second Part” reunites the heroes of Bricksburg in an all new action-packed adventure to save their beloved city.  Emmet, Lucy, Batman and their friends join together together to take on a new threat, the LEGO DUPLO invaders from Outer Space, who have been wrecking everything in its path.  They are destroying the LEGO Universe faster than it can be rebuilt, and it Emmet and Lucy don't stop them, there will be nothing left.  This movie, filled with catchy new songs and characters, will have fans both young and old glued to the screen from the very start, right through the rolling credits.  Emmet, Lucy and friends will have their courage, creativity and Master Building skills tested, if they want to save the citizens of LEGO universe from the LEGO DUPLO Invaders.

What I really liked about this sequel movie, next to all the fun songs, which will get stuck in your head, and have you singing them for days after, is that the characters find out who they really are and how special they are to each other, as they battle to defeat the invaders.  Emmet finds himself questing his character and when he joins forces with Benny, he thinks he needs to change who he is if he wants others to really like him.  But, in the end of the movie he realizes that Lucy and the others like him just how he is and that he is talented and special.

This intergalactic animated sequel will delight LEGO fans and have them happy to know be able to own the movie on DVD, Blu-ray and/or Digital.  We received the movie the other day and ended up watching it for our Friday night family movie night.  Even though we had already seen it three times before at the movies, it was nice to finally get to watch it again, and relive some of our favorite parts from this sequel.

In addition to the movie, the Blu-ray/DVD/Digital combo pack also includes the following special features, not to be missed....

  • Outtakes and Deleted Scenes
  • They Come in Pieces: Assembling the LEGO Movie 2
  • Everything is Awesome Sing-Along
  • Trivia, Games and More
  • Fun Behind the Scenes Commentary by the filmmakers
  • Emmet's Holiday Party: A LEGO Movie Short -- Holiday themed animated short
  • LEGO Sets in Action -- Animation of the LEGO product tied to the LEGO Movie 2
  • LEGO Designs:  LEGO Toy Designers highlight key play sets in the TLM2 product Line
  • Super Cool Music Video -- Music Video by Beck featuring Robyn and The Lonely Island
  • Promotion Spot -- Fun Custom spots featured during the theatrical campaign

I couldn't get over how much content was added to the special features section.  We ended up watching all the extras Saturday afternoon, as there was just so much to see and enjoy.  I have to say, I really enjoyed the outtakes and deleted scenes, as well as the trivia and games included.  Both of my girls enjoyed the Emmet Holiday Party animated short, and couldn't stop playing the sing-along "Everything is Possible" song.

Overall, we had so much fun watching this movie...for the fourth time.  And, we can't wait to sit and watch it again, and again, now that we own on it Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital.  If you loved this movie or missed it when it was in theaters back in February, and have been waiting for it to arrive on Blu-ray and DVD to own, now is the time to pre-order it, so that you get it when it arrives in stores on Tuesday.
