Thanks to the folks at Magformers, we were sent this set to try out, and include in my Easter Gift Guide. My two girls are 7 and almost 9, so I wasn't sure if they would think this set would be too babyish for them. But, as soon as my oldest saw that you could make a dog and cat - her favorite animals, she couldn't wait to open the box and start building.

Once the box was open and the girls saw the magnetic magic of the Magformers pieces, they were hooked, and couldn't stop playing with this 60 piece animal-themed set.

There is a full color guide that is included with the set, so kids can see what pieces they need and how they go together to build the different animals. They can use flat shapes, stack the pieces to give dimension to their animals, or go all out and make fun 3-D animals, which were the favorites of my girls.
With over 60 pieces to play with this set, kids can spend hours following the instructions in the guide to make particular animals, or use their imaginations to create one of a kind animals, that they can give names to and play with. Like I mentioned above, even adults will want to get in on the fun, as they watch their kids play with the Magformers Animal Jumbo set. My husband saw my girls playing with the set, and saw how they got so excited about what they were building and how the shapes were fitting together, that he had to sit down with them and give it a try. After making a few flat shaped animals, he moved on to simple stacking and the 3-D animals. He was having a blast making the animals, and see them come together, piece by piece. He usually sits with my girls and does this building building sets with them, but said that this one from Magformers, with its magnetic addition to the geometric shapes, makes this a more enjoyable building set to play with.
We own a handful of Magformers sets, but I have to say that this one is by far our favorite one. The girls can't get enough it, and have been playing with it day in and day out, since receiving a few days ago. And, whenever friends come to visit, they are quick to show them this set, and then dump it out on the floor so that they can all make fun animals together.
