Did You Hear? The #BumblebeeMovie is Now Available on Blu-ray, DVD, 4K and Digital! Makes for a Great Family Movie Night or Easter Basket Filler! (Review)

Disclosure:  I was sent a review copy along with promotional product in exchange for an honest review. All views shared are mine and mine alone.

This past weekend, we got to see BUMBLEBEE as our family movie night movie.  The girls really wanted to see this movie when it was in the theater, but they were both sick and by the time they were feeling better, the movie was no longer playing in theaters.  So, it has been at the top of their "to see" list of movies releasing to DVD, Blu-ray and Digital for 2019.

Usually you think of the Transformers movies as ones that boys will go crazy for.  But, ever since my two girls sat and watched the movies with my husband a few years back, they have been hooked, and love all things related to Transformers.  Their favorite of all the Transformers is Bumblebee, so it was only fitting that the first girl-driven movie featured this little yellow Beetle car. :-)

Here is more about this movie, in case you, too, missed it in theaters:

"In the film, CYBERTRON has fallen. When OPTIMUS PRIME sends BUMBLEBEE to defend Earth, his journey to become a hero begins. Charlie Watson (Hailee Steinfeld), a teenager trying to find her place in the world, discovers and repairs the battle-scarred robot, who’s disguised as a Volkswagen Beetle. As the DECEPTICONS hunt down the surviving AUTOBOTS with the help of a secret agency led by Agent Burns (John Cena), BUMBLEBEE and Charlie team up to protect the world in an action-packed adventure that’s fun for the whole family.  The film is rated PG-13."

In addition to receiving the BUMBLEBEE movie to view with my family, I was also fun a box filled with Hasbro toys, which included the following toys for my girls to play with:

The viewing kit sent included the Blu-ray Combo Pack, DJ BumblebeeBumblebee Stinger Blaster, a figure from the Transformers: Bumblebee -- Energon Igniters Nitro Series, a figure from the Transformers: Bumblebee -- Energon Igniters Power Plus Series, and more.

I wish I had my camera ready when the girls opened the box and saw all the toys and movie above.  They let out the biggest squeal and couldn't wait for Friday to get here to watch the movie.

They had watched the trailer of the movie countless times and couldn't wait to see the whole movie finally.  And, when Friday rolled around, this movie made for the perfect movie night movie.  BUMBLEBEE is a fun, action-packed movie, that will delight Transformers fans both young and old.  And, having Hailee Steinfield (who is also one of my girls' favorite singers) play the lead character, Charlie Watson, girls of all ages will find themselves being drawn to this movie, which is all about girl power.  Charlie is just a strong-willed character, who like most teens is struggling with life and finding her way in life. After loosing her father, who was also her best friend, she finds hers trying to fix up the car they were working on together before he passed.  But, with little money and having to deal with this devastating loss of an important person in her life, Charlie seems to be taking steps back in fixing up the car, instead of forward.

A trip to the junk yard turns things around, as she was gifted a Beetle car she saw on the lot.  And, when she gets it home, the real fun begins, and she witnesses her car turn into a robot.  Charlie repairs the damaged robot, and together they team up to protect the world and try and save the day.  Not only do they save the day, but BUMBLEBEE and Charlie also save each other along the way.

They form a bond, and find each other filling the void both have been dealing with.  We really enjoyed the movie, and even though my youngest was reaching for tissues at the end as she didn't want to see Charlie have to say goodbye to BUMBLEBEE, she was happy that Charlie was in a better place, and that no more harm would come to BUMBLEBEE.

In addition to this action-packed film, the new release also includes some great bonus features including:
  • A brand-new animated motion comic- BUMBLEBEE's Next Adventure
  • 14 Deleted/Extended scenes and outtakes
  • Over 60 Minutes of bonus content
  • Plus, the Blu-Ray/DVD/Digital version comes with an Exclusive comic book, "Sector 7"

We ended up watching the movie Friday night, and then Saturday afternoon we checked out all the bonus content.

The outtakes had us all laughing, and wanting to watch them again.  And, we also found ourselves talking about the deleted/extended scenes and saying that most should have stayed in the final cut as they were all great.  I could go on and on about how great this movie is, and how it is perfect for a family movie night, but if you are a fan of the Transformers movies, or love BUMBLEBEE, then you probably have this new release (available now) already on your radar to pick up and own, to add to your DVD collection.  Bonus: If you grew up in the 80's like I did, you will be happy to know that this movie includes some of the best songs from the 80's throughout the film.  I ended up picking up the soundtrack yesterday, so that I could listen to it in the car with my girls. :-)

With Easter fast approaching, why not consider picking up BUMBLEBEE on Blu-ray, DVD, Digital or 4K, to leave in your child's basket, along with some of the great Hasbro toys released for the film and featuring the different transforming robots.  My girls are loving the Hasbro toys we were sent, and it shows that girls love robots and transforming cars, too!

If only they had these cool toys when I was growing up...I would have been using my allowance to buy them. But, at least my girls are letting me play with them and their toys, so I get to have fun and enjoy these cool toys, too! :-)
