Spring is finally here!!! Woohoo!!!  And, hopefully soon the flowers will be sprouting and the warmer weather will finally return. My youngest asked me today how much longer she had to wait until "summer" weather was here, as she is done with the cold weather.  Poor kid, only 7.5 years old, and already done with New England weather.  When I told her it wouldn't be summer for a few more months, but that hopefully the weather would warm up for spring, she was ready to pack her bags and move down south where it's always warm.  I told her to save room in her suitcase to pack me. :-)

As we wait for the warmer weather to return, the girls have been having fun and staying busy with a few different Highlights Hidden Pictures books we were recently set to review.  I don't know about you, but I grew up on these puzzle books, and would always look forward to holidays and birthdays as I knew I would be getting a few new Highlights puzzle books to do.  And, now that I have kids of my own, I am sharing the fun of these great Hidden Pictures puzzle books with my girls, and they, too, were instant fans.

Can you believe Highlights has been around for over 70 years?  And, they are still turning out amazing magazines and puzzle books all these years later.  To be around this long and having fans of their products spanning generations, they must be doing something right.  Not only are their products fun, but they are also educational.

In addition to providing hours of fun for kids (and adults) of all ages, I love that Highlights products are also affordable, making them a great gift idea for holidays and birthdays.  Parents can pick up a couple puzzle books for each of their kids (as there are so many so choose from), and know that their kids will enjoy them, at home and on the go.  My girls always have a Hidden Pictures puzzle book in their backpacks, and bring with them when we are traveling to classes or doing a day trip.  When they find themselves bored, they can simply pull out one of their Highlights puzzle books and be entertained.  I especially love seeing the girls sit together and try and find all the hidden objects for a particular Hidden Pictures scene.  They usually leave the banana for me to find, as I told them before that that was my favorite thing to find when I was a kid. Ever since I told them this, they have left the banana for me to find -- well, they say they haven't looked for or found the banana, but 9 times of out 10, they have, and are just waiting to see how long it takes me, before trying to point out an area to me, or playing the "hot and cold" game with me. :-)

My girls really enjoyed the Highlights puzzle books sent.  We ended up saving the 101 Bananas book to do together, and have been enjoying at night time before bed.  Usually we will snuggle up on the couch, each of us with a pen or pencil in hand, and try and find all the hidden objects.  It is so much fun trying to be the first to find an object, or being the last person to circle an object we were all trying so hard to find.  In addition to the hidden picture puzzles, the 101 Bananas, as well as the 101 Socks and 101 Toothbrushes also include jokes, puzzles, word searches, mazes and more at the end of the book.  So not only are getting to enjoy the Hidden Pictures puzzles, but fans of Highlights also get to enjoy their other challenging and oh so fun puzzles, with laugh out loud jokes included, too!

With Easter fast approaching, why not consider picking up a few Highlights Hidden Pictures books like the ones I mentioned above.  The 101 Toothbrushes puzzle book is their newest release, and was a hit with my girls.  And, don't forget the Easter Hidden Pictures Puzzles book, which comes with a neon highlighter for kids to circle or color in the objects they find, making for a more fun eye-popping experience. :-)  Yes, chocolate and candy is always fun to find in your Easter basket, but why not give your kids gifts like Highlights puzzle books, that will provide hours of fun and enjoyable, while also carrying educational benefits (as mentioned above).  Summer will be here before you know it (even though my youngest daughter wishes it would get here already)...and, these puzzle books would make for great boredom busters for your kids.  They are small enough to pass in backpacks, suitcases, or leave a few in the car, to keep your kids busy on the go.  And, when they come to you and say they are bored at home, or it is too hot outside (you know this will happen), be ready with a few Highlights Hidden Pictures books, to keep them busy and entertained.
