My Thoughts:
I had wonderful things about the Sticker Girl series, and couldn't wait to get my hands on a couple of one of he books -- there are currently three in the series, which the "Cupcake Challenge" book being Book 3.  The series is about a young girl named Martina who overcomes being shy with the help of her magical stickers that come to life.  And, the fun part about the whole magical sticker idea is that the same stickers Martina features in the book and her story, are included for the reader to enjoy, too.
I don't know about you, but my girls LOVE stickers.  Not only do they love collecting them, but they seem to turn up almost everywhere -- on their bedroom walls and doors, in stories they create with blank books I buy for them, as well as on my fridge at times.  So, when my girls saw this book and saw that it included stickers, they couldn't wait to find a spot to put them.  But, I made them hold up and enjoy the story first, to see how the stickers included for them, played a part in this cute story.
My oldest daughter loves cats and dogs, so when she saw the cats on the front cover of this book and throughout the black and white illustrations in the chapter, she was ready to read it, not even knowing what it was about, just because of the cats.  It wasn't until we started to read the book that she realized it wasn't all about cats, but something even better. Both of my girls found themselves relating to Martina as they are both a little shy, especially when they are put in new surroundings and don't know anyone.  As we read this book, they thought it would be cool is the stickers they have collected were magical like the ones Martina had.  And, if they were, what fun adventures they could go on with these talking sticker friends.
If you child is looking for a fun chapter book series to get into and they love stickers just like my girls, then you will want to check out Janet Tashjian's Sticker Girl book series.  I already picked up the first books and will be gifting them to my girls for Christmas.  They have been asking for them, and I know they will be excited to unwrap them come Christmas morning, and then want to dive right in and read them, before enjoying the bonus stickers for themselves.
