Think Tank Scholar

While it is nice to receive toys for the holidays, don't forget about educational products for kids, as toys will eventually get old, but products that can help with your child's learning can come in handy when they are struggling with things like learning sight words and reading, and it will become the best gift they could have ever received.

Recently, I was sent the Sight World Cards Bundle Pack from Think Tank Scholar to review.  These sight words flash cards come with 5 grade level packs for Pre-K through third grade (students ages 3-9 yrs. old).

Think Thank Scholar's flash cards cover up to 75% of words used in beginning books improving a child's reading speed, fluency and comprehension.

They are not just sight words to read off the card, but also include 6 teaching methods and 6 six fun games, to make learning these common sight words fun.

The Think Tank Scholar flash cards are an excellent teaching tool for both parents and teachers.  Even though my girls know how to read, it was a struggle for my youngest daughter to read.  For the longest time she just wasn't having it.  Her sister could pick up a book and read it cover to cover in no time.  But, when it was time to do independent reading, my youngest would complain or stare off, not wanting to sit and try and read, and build her vocabulary and reading speed and comprehension.  So, I looked online for something that would make learning sight words fun, and get her excited about wanting to read.  This is when I stumbled across the Think Tank Scholar website and their flash cards.  This was just what I had been looking for.

The kind folks at Think Tank Scholar sent along two bundle packs (one for me to keep and one to giveaway -- read on to learn how you can enter to win a bundle pack valued at $29.99).  I showed my youngest daughter the cards, and she was like, "Not more flash cards."  See, we tried flash cards and sight word posters in the past, but they weren't fun and engaging. But, I told her these were different and to give them a try.   I started with the easy Pre-k and Grade K words for her, as I knew if she could read these, she would feel confident and get excited, seeing how quickly she was reading the words.  And, that she did!

We advanced to the Grade 2 and then Grade 3 cards, sing the different teaching methods and games.  With over 100+ words in each grade level pack, my daughter was so excited she knew so many words and could read them without any issue.  When we weren't practicing the flash cards, I found her grabbing them from the table to go through them.  She loved showing them off to my husband, to show just how well she could read, and all the words she knew.

I will say, that when we did get the Grade 3 cards, that there were about a dozen words she had to practice and memorize.  But with repeated use of these flash cards, in no time she had the words down.  In addition to using these flash cards to help with word recognition, I have also been using them as part of our homeschool for quick pop up spelling tests.  I will say a word, that I know the girls can read, and then have them spell.  Then, I show them the cards and they check their work. If they spelled the word wrong, they will have to write it 5 times each.  This has made the girls better spellers, and also want to grab these flash card pack from Think Tank Scholar to go through on their own practicing words and their spellings.

So, as you can see, these flash card packs will grow with kids.  They will start using them to recognize common words, and then can use them with the fun games, and then to help them learn proper spelling of the sight words.  At only $25 for the complete Pre-K-Grade 3 bundle pack, you can't go wrong. Or, if you want to just pick up cards for current and future grade levels, you can buy individual packs for only $5.99-$7.99 (depending on grade level) each from the Think Tank Scholar website, Amazon or eBay.

So, in addition to picking up toys from your kids' wish lists this holiday season, why not pick up these fun educational sight words flash card pack from Think Tank Scholar to add to your child's stockings. While they might not be excited to see them at first on Christmas morning, once they start using them and learning and building up their sign word bank, they will be thankful for them, as they breeze through beginning books and early reader books on their own.

In addition to sight word flash cards, the folks at Think Tank Scholar also offer math flash cards, to help kids with their adding, subtracting, multiplication and division.

And, just like the sight words cards, these flash cards also come with teaching methods and games, to help make learning and practicing math skills much more fun.

As mentioned above, the kind folks at Think Tank Scholar sent me an addition flash cards bundle pack for me to giveaway to one lucky Inspired by Savannah reader.  To enter this giveaway, please complete the entries on the Rafflecopter form below.  Good luck!
