"Part-Time Mermaid" by Deborah Underwood is an Enchanting Underwater Tale That Will Have Kids Wishing They Could Be Mermaids, Too! (Review)

My girls love all things mermaids, so when they saw "Part-time Mermaid" by Deborah Underwood (check out her other recent release Super Saurus and the Egg and my review here), they were over the moon excited, and couldn't wait to read it.  Having recently stumbled upon this children's author and falling in love with her writing style, the girls were eager to read another one of her books, which is sure to be a New York Times Bestseller, like many of her other children's titles.

The girls stopped to admire the cover art of this book, as it has fun pink glitter in the title, and on the girl's mermaid tail. They thought this was a cool feature, and couldn't wait to see what the inside of the book had in store for them.

Like the title suggests, the girl is a part-time mermaid, which means that when everyone in the house goes to bed, she turns into a mermaid and goes on fun adventures.  But, is she the only one in the family that turns into a mermaid and has fun.  She thinks so, until she notices a merboy who looks like her brother.  This cute story follows the girls as she tries to track down the merboy who keeps getting away from her.

Kids will love this under the sea adventure story that will have their imaginations going crazy as they pretend to be part-time mermaids, too.  My girls really loved the story and said it would be neat if this could really happen.  They both wished they could swim with the seahorses and fish, while they stumble upon and explore sunken pirate ships and more found in the ocean.

This is definitely a page turner kids will want to have read or read on their own, time and again.  My girls love grabbing this book from the book shelf to read on their own and to use the colorful and playful illustrations for inspiration for their own underwater mermaid scenes they draw.  My girls give this book two thumbs up, and say it is a must read this summer. :-)
