Stitching with Jane Foster

Format: Hardback52 Pages
ISBN: 9781633222991
Publisher: Walter Foster Jr.

Thanks to my Mom, my youngest daughter, Bella is into sewing and learning how to knit. For her birthday and Christmas this year she is asking for her own sewing kit and supplies.  And, thanks to a wonderful book, Stitching with Jane Foster, which I was sent  couple months ago for review, she is learning great hand and eye coordination, using her imagination in creating one of a kind things and getting very creative.

What I loved about this book is that it includes 36 pages, each with easy to follow along instructions to teach different stitching patterns and color combinations.  In addition to teaching the different stitches including the straight stitch, cross-stitch and back stitch, this book has 37 cute punch out templates that you and your child can practice the different stitches you are learning.  And, what is great about these pop out patterns is that they are double sides - one side is color and the other is black and white letting you color and create your own unique pattern based on your imagination and creative side.

Bella has had so much stitching the different templates and coming up with ideas for when she gets additional supplies and her own sewing kit for her birthday in a couple of weeks.  I love how my Mom and with the help of this book, my girls are developing a love of embroidery. I remember growing up and doing embroidery with my mom, and now we can also enjoy sitting on the couch or at the table sewing, stitching and having fun. And, then when we are done, I love seeing the girls proudly display and explain their creations.

If you have a child who is showing interest in cross-stitch and sewing and want a fun book that will explain the basics, then you will want to check out Stitching with Jane Foster. This book is chock full of color illustrations, easy to follow instructions and the 37 adorable punch out templates to get you started is a fun bonus.
