Elf in the House

With only 50 days until Christmas...yes, you read that right -- we are in full holiday mode here.  I am busy reviewing and posting great gift ideas for you, and the girls are enjoying all the wonderful holiday books and movies we were recently sent to review. One book the girls and I read recently that they really liked is "Elf in the House." We have two elves visit our house each December -- Christopher and Christina, who come and watch over the girls and then report back to Santa if they should be on the naughty or nice list.  So, when the girls saw this cute holiday book, they said it reminded them of their elves and couldn't wait to read it.

This book is a quick read, so is perfect for even the youngest of readers to sit and listen to.  And, because it is about the night before Christmas, it would make for a great addition to your family's Christmas eve fun.  Each year, the girls receive a box from the elves on Christmas eve that includes a new pair of Christmas pajamas, some crafts to do, new cookie cutters to help with cookies for Santa, and a couple books and movies to watch as they get ready for Santa's arrival.  I could see this book being a great addition to a holiday box if you do one or want to start this fun tradition in your house.

Not only is this story fun, but the illustrations done by Adam Record are festive and playful.    We lingered on the pages admiring the cute illustrations.  And, at times found ourselves flipping back to look a little longer at some.  We have only had this book for about a week, but have read it over a dozen times so far.  I plan to wrap it and include in our upcoming Christmas book advent, which we will start on Dec. 1st.

If you love holiday books and are looking for some fun new titles to add to your family's collection, you will definitely want to check out "Elf in the House" today. This is one book the whole family will enjoy reading together as you anticipate Santa's arrival.
