Emmy Award-Winning PBS KIDS Series PEG + CAT
Helps Kids Build Math and Problem-Solving Skills

Wow, I can't believe that Savannah will be 5 yrs. old in July.  Where did the time go?  And, then this fall she will be starting Kindergarten.  (Insert sniffling).  While I am excited to watch her grow and learn new things, like all parents, I miss seeing my girls little.  They truly grow up fast.

In addition to Savannah growing in leaps and bounds, I am also watching her learn new things and get excited about things like math and reading.  Just last night I walked in to kiss her goodnight, and she was reading to her stuffed animals.  And, earlier in the day, she was correcting Bella who was trying to count to count forward and backwards from 1-20, just like her big sister. :-)

To help Savannah learn and more I turn to educational television programs and DVDs, as reinforces of math and reading skills that she is learning at home and at preschool.  One show in particular that I love, which is on PBS Kids is Peg + Cat.  If you are not familiar with this show, it is a relatively new show to the PBS Kids lineup, and one my girls took to the first time they watched it.

Here is more about PEG + CAT, including the new DVD release, which features 7 already aired episodes, plus 23 tunes:

"PBS Distribution announced recently that it was releasing seven stories from PBS KIDS’ popular PEG + CAT series on the new DVD “PEG + CAT: PEG ROCKS,” available starting March 3. Solving problems is even more AWESOME when music is involved! This new toe-tapping DVD features fun-filled musical escapades, including “The Girl Group Problem,” in which Peg’s girl group, the Pentagirls, has its biggest show ever, and “The Mega Mall Problem,” which features Peg and Cat searching the mall for the teens, so they can all enter the Zebra Guy dance contest!

Each PEG + CAT adventure features a story in which Peg and Cat encounter an unexpected challenge that requires them to use math and problem-solving skills in order to save the day. While it teaches specific math lessons, the series also emphasizes resilience and perseverance.

PEG + CAT was created by Billy Aronson (“Rent,” “Postcards from Buster”) and Jennifer Oxley (“Little Bill,” “The Wonder Pets!”)and is a production of The Fred Rogers Company. PEG + CAT, which made its broadcast debut in October 2013, airs daily on PBS KIDS (check local listings).

The “PEG + CAT: PEG ROCKS” DVD (SRP $12.99) has a run time of approximately 85 minutes. ---

My girls were so excited when they saw this DVD arrive at our door as it was the first one of hopefully many they can add to their growing PBS Kids television series to DVD collection.  We have only had this DVD for about a week now, but I have counted over a dozen times that the girls have watched this recent release at home and in the car.  They can't get enough of Peg+Cat, and I know fans of this hit animated will say the same thing once they watch this new DVD.

Don't ask me which of the 7 episodes or 23 tunes my girls loves, as they will say all of them.  All I know is that with the help of Peg + Kid, they are learning and having fun.  What more can a parent ask for? :-)
