This past weekend included another first for Bella -- she went to the movies and actually sat through an entire film...which I was surprised at.  What did we see, you ask?  My Little Pony Equestria Girls: Rainbow Rocks.

"Tame your ponytails because it's about to get rocky! Hasbro Studios and Shout! Factory partner with Screenvision to bring "every pony" a sequel from the successful feature of My Little Pony: Equestria Girls comes … MY LITTLE PONY EQUESTRIA GIRLS: RAINBOW ROCKS is in theaters now, for a limited time! Dance in your seats, wiggle your tails, and get ready to rock out as Applejack, Pinkie Pie, Rainbow Dash, Rarity, Fluttershy and Princess Twilight form a new rock band that'll go head-to-head with the newest girl group in Battle of the Bands at CHS."

We had planned to go to a movie theater in CT, but because of the limited engagement of this new release, which released on Saturday, Sept. 27th, we missed the 11 AM showing, and had to travel to RI to catch the 1PM show.  I am so glad that we took the girls as the movie (this is a sequel to the first My Little Pony Equestia Girls movie, that was in theaters last year and is now available from Shout Factory to own on DVD), as the movie was so much filled.

Even though the theater was not packed, I was happy to see the diversity in the people who were there to see the movie.  There were fathers there with their sons and daughters, moms with their girls, both little and tweens, and even a smattering of grown adults, both men and women, who came out to see this new Equestria Girls film.

Last year's movie introduced fans to Sunset Shimmer (used to be a star pupil of Princess Celestia), who ended up being evil, until Twilight Sparkle used her friendship magic to make her good again.  This new film introduces us to three new girls in school, called the Dazzlings, who are only there to put a spell on the kids and make them fight between one another, while taking their power away from them.

It is up to Twilight Sparkle to return to Canterlot High from Ponyville, to help save the day and get rid of these girls/evil ponies for good.

Through a school battle of band competition the Rainbow Booms, along with the other student bands complete against each other, until it is down to a face off.  From start to end, this movie is filled with some catchy songs, that even had my husband tapping his feet along to.  Both of my girls loved the sleepover scene, which will introduce MLP fans to Pinkie Pie's sister, who is quite the opposite of her.

I don't want to spoil the movie for you, so I will end here.  But, I will say that if you have a My Little Pony fans in your house and are looking for something to do in the next couple of weeks, why not check your local movie theater listing and see if My Little Pony Equestria Girls: Rainbow Rocks is playing, and go and see it.  While I know my girls will eventually be watching this movie on repeat once it arrives on DVD, it was nice to be able to see it on the big screen.  Oh, how I wish you could have saw the pure excitement on Bella's face when the lights in the theater dimmed and the movie started.  She couldn't be interrupted until the credits rolled. :-)
