My Thoughts:

It is not that often that I stumble upon books that my girls can't put down, especially when they are educational books.  So, when I was recently sent the new board books in the My Turn To Learn series, written by Natalie Marshall, I couldn't believe how quickly they took to them, and how they wanted to flip through the pages themselves, when we weren't reading together.   The above photo shows just one of many occasions throughout the day that Savannah and Arabella will pull these four board books off the shelf and sit down and flip through them.

With five sturdy tab pages to flip through, as well as a back page, these board books are a great way to introduce colors, numbers, shapes and opposites to little ones.  And, with just 1-2 words per tapped section, little ones can enjoy the beauty of the whimsical and oh so colorful illustrations that describe the words on the opposite page.  Even without knowing how to read, Savannah is able to tell me what the text means just by what she sees in the illustrations.  And, because of this, she is learning word and letter recognition, which I love.

I hope more books are published in the My Turn To Learn series, as I would definitely pick up to our to collection.  If you are looking for a great stocking stuffer idea, or your little is starting to show interest in learning their colors, numbers, shapes or opposites, then these board books will make learning fun.  And, what parent doesn't love board books?  Not only are they easier for little hands to grasp and hold, but if by chance your toddler likes to rip pages in non-board books, you don't have to worry, as these books are durable and withstand frequent wear and tear a little one can put on books. :-)
