My Thoughts:

Who doesn't love to get in the kitchen with their children and cook.  I have always loved cooking, and can recall some great memories of learning how to make Italian cookies with my grandmother and learning how to really cook from my mom before I went off to college.  And, now with two girls of my own, I use every opportunity when cooking or baking to get them involved.  Arabella is my designated taster, while Savannah loves to "stir it up." :-)  Just last night,  I had the girls helping me make apple crisp and apple and walnut bread, as the apples we picked a couple of weeks ago had to be used up.  There is something about watching the girls and hearing them giggle as they roll up their sleeves to help Mommy out in the kitchen. Moments like these are priceless and ones I will treasure for years to come.

So, when I received the upcoming Sesame Street: C is for Cooking, which will be available for purchase online and in stores on September 10th, I knew two little chefs who would love watching Elmo, Cookie Monster and other Sesame Street favorites cook up tasty treats.  Prior to cooking last night with the girls, we had watched this DVD in its entirety after lunch.  With over 2 hours of Foodie fun, including a full-length video, "Elmo's Magic Cookbook," along with downloadable activity and recipe pages, the girls couldn't stop asking when they could help me again in the kitchen.

If you watch Sesame Street with your kids, then you probably see how they take different popular shows or songs from today, and make them kid-friendly.  With this new DVD, you will be happy to see a kid-friendly version of Iron Chef featuring some of your child's favorite characters from Sesame Street.  In addition to watching fun shorts, children will also learn about the importance of healthy eating and snacking through stories and songs.  With the help of Sesame Street characters, children will see how different foods like bread and cookies are made, as well as see Elmo make tasty frozen fruit pops.  I forgot to make these with the girls this summer, but have it on our to-do this weekend. Can't wait! :-)

In addition to the frozen fruit pops we will be making this weekend, I also want to try a few recipes that were included in the bonus recipe booklet found inside the DVD case.  These recipes are just a handful that can be found in the kid-friendly cookbook, "Sesame Street: C is for Cooking."  I already own and have tried many kid-friendly recipes from the "Sesame Street: B is for Baking" cookbook (search my blog for the review of this cookbook).  I will definitely be picking up a copy of the "C is for Cooking" cookbook to create fun, kid-friendly recipes with my girls.

  1. Our favorite thing to cook in the kitchen together is Lasagna. All my children can make it now. And my children grew up with Sesame Street, it's a wonderful show.
