Potty Training Take 2 -- Review and #Giveaway

Disclosure: I was sent samples from the vendor in order to write up an honest review.  The views shared are mine and mine alone.

Well, we are back to trying to potty train Savannah.  If you remember, shortly after Arabella was born, we tried to potty train Savannah, as she was showing the signs -- letting us know she had to go, pulling up and down her pull ups and wanting to sit on the potty (mainly to earn stickers). But, shortly thereafter, she stopped wanting to try.  She saw the attention that her little sister was getting with the diaper changes, and wanted to go back to wearing diapers, getting the diaper cream, the works.  So, we didn't fight her on this, as we thought she would come around eventually.  Then, it became a routine to change the girls like clockwork -- one after another.  I knew having two children close in age would be difficult, but, boy is it draining on you, too.  It seems like when Arabella is teething, Savannah seems to have a belly ache and needs attention.  So, our up all nights are getting more frequent --- oh, how I wish I could get a full night of uninterrupted sleep.  I guess when they are off to college, right? :-)  Then, I will be up all night worrying what they are doing. :-)  Ahh, the joys of parenthood.

But, now that Savannah is turning 3 in July, I thought it would be a good time to try potty training again.  I had hoped to wait until Arabella would be ready, so that I could try and train them together, but she is still too young to try, and Savannah is not getting any younger. :-)  I have been gathering up all the things I need for potty training -- rewards, the potty chairs in the different bathrooms, pull ups, big girl panties and the mattress pads for her bed, and to put on the couch when she is resting.

During our last attempt at potty training, I grew tired of the mattress pads we had picked up, as they didn't work that well, would bunch up or melt when washed and dried, or had a funny plastic smell to them. I took to the Internet and stumbled across Wearever.  Wearever is a health and wellness apparel company, that offers a lot of amazing products that are great for multiple purposes and people of any ages.  The Wearever line carries underwear, Buster Brown socks, a well-known comfort sock line, mattress pads and more.  While browsing their website, I saw they offered bed pads, which had received rave reviews from other parents that used them for bed wetting.  So, I reached out to the folks at Wearever, and requested two economy bed pads to try out.  I wanted to use one for Savannah's bed, as well as one for Arabella's crib -- as I am not impressed with the current bed pad we have on her bed.  Within a few days of putting in my request, I received the two bed pads in the mail from Wearever.

"Quilted topcloth with great absorbency and comfort. Waterproof liner keeps furniture fabrics dry. Great for using in bed at night. Wash and dry hundreds of times."

As I took the bed pads out of their wrappers, I was impressed with the overall quality of the pad.  I didn't notice a plastic smell like other bed pads, and loved how they were larger than most bed pads.  The bed pads fit perfectly in the girls' bed.  And, that night when Savannah went to bed, she didn't notice it was there.  With the other pads, she would hear crinkling or feel the pads bunch up under her sheets as she moved around in the night.   When she did have an accident a few days later, I was impressed with how well the bed pad worked.  It quickly soaked up the urine, and didn't spread it out through the sheets -- only the area where it got wet stayed wet.

The true test beyond the absorbency was seeing how well it stood up to be washed and dried.  The verdict -- it looks like it did the day I took it out of the package -- no bunching, no shrinking, etc.  I have washed this bed pad from Wearever half a dozen times since then, and it is still holding up.  I am so glad that stumbled across the Wearever website, and had the chance to try out these mattress pads.  While potty training Savannah is still a work in progress (as she still wants to be our little girl and get attention like Arabella does, I feel more confident that if/when she wets the bed, I don't have to worry about the bed pad failing on me.  And, with the diaper leaks that Arabella has on a few occasions, the bed pad until her sheets is holding up nicely, as well.

Do you have a child who wets the bed, or are you starting to or trying to potty train your little one?  If so, make sure you have a bed pad that really works.  I highly recommend the economy bed pad from Wearever, which is only $10.99 -- very affordable, while still being of high quality.
