My Thoughts:

I recently had the opportunity to try out the new SleepSack Early Walker by HALO with both my daughters, and received mixed reviews from them.  While Arabella loved wearing the SleepSack during the day and at night, Savannah found it too cumbersome to walk in, and didn't like the bulky feel to it.  I wasn't sure how Savannah would react to the sleepsack, as she was never a fan of being swaddled or wearing sleepsacks as a baby.  Early on she was fine, but after 8 weeks, she preferred to just be cradled or rocked in your arms, rather than be swaddled or put to bed in a sleepsack. Whereas, Arabella, on the other hand, loved to be swaddled.  We even had to get a crash course in swaddling at the hospital, as we had forget how to make the little "taco wrap" -- even though it had only been 15 months prior that we were doing it with Savannah.

As Arabella grew, she began to outgrow her favorite swaddlers and sleepsacks.  I wondered if they offered sleepsacks for toddlers, but could never find any on the market -- only those crazy looking blanket wraps you wear.  I knew she was too young for these, and would probably wiggle out of it in the middle of the night.  So, when I was contacted by HALO's PR firm and informed about the new HALO SleepSack Early Walker and SleepSack Big Kids, I couldn't wait to try them out.

And, they couldn't have come at a better time, as the warmer weather was starting to creep in, meaning that the heavy flannel footed pj's had to be put away, but that the summer pj's couldn't be worn yet.  Instead, I was dressing the girls in a light-cotton long sleeve shirt and pants pj's.  We still have cool nights here in New England, so I found myself covering them with a blanket at night to stay warm.  But, I wished that there was a sleepsack or other wearable outfit that could keep them warm, without the concern of getting tangled up in the extra blankets in their beds.

This is where the HALO SleepSack Early Walker and SleepSack Big Kids came in handy.  Like I said, I was sent their pink cupcake HALO SleepSack Early Walker in size 2T-3T for the girls to try.  I found that the sizes ran large - or my girls are just short, as they seemed rather long, even around the seat area, when they had them on.  This baggy look and feel was one of the main reasons Savannah didn't feel comfortable wearing or walking in it.  But, Arabella loved the feel of the lightweight-knit fabric, and would stroke the front of the sleepsack, as she would do if it was her security blanket, to help her drift off to sleep at night timem

Because these sleepsacks were a bit on the baggie side, I would feel comfortable letting the girls wear them all day, or run around the house with them.  But, maybe in a few months when they get older and are a bit taller, these sleepsacks will fit them better for easier mobility.  In the meantime, Arabella is loving wearing her new cupcake lightweight-knit fabric HALO SleepSack Early Walker to bed -- as it keeps her warm, and brings her the sense of security.

Besides the oversized look of the sleepsack, another small problem I had when Savannah was wearing the sleepsack, was in the way it zipped up -- well, in this case the zipper zips down - from the top to the feet.  I found this to be a problem for her a night time as we are in the early stages of potty training and she would have issues trying to get in and out of this sleepsack.  When she was wearing overnight diapers it was fine.  But, if we had left her in the big girl panties and had this sleepsack on, there would be accidents.  Toddlers like Arabella who are still too young for potty training and are still wearing diapers, this was not an issue.  To me, having it zip from top to bottom worked out better in Arabella's case, as she likes to play Houdini and get out of her zip up pj's.  She couldn't get out of this sleepsack, though, as she had trouble finding the zipper at the top. :-)

Do you have early walkers or toddlers who are transitioning out of the sleepsacks they wore as a baby?  If they liked being swaddled or wearing sleepsacks as a baby, then they will probably enjoy wearing the new SleepSack Early Walker or Big Kids SleepSack from HALO.  To learn more about these and other HALO products, please visit the HALO website here: https://www.halosleep.com/
