Written and produced by George Lucas and directed by Ron Howard, the film tells a timeless fantasy tale in which heroes come in all sizes...and adventure is the greatest magic of all. In celebration of its 25th anniversary, the unforgettable classic has been fully digitally restored and debuts on Blu-ray and DVD Combo Pack March 12, 2013 from Lucasfilm Ltd. and Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment.

When young Willow Ufgood (Warwick Davis; Harry Potter franchise) finds an abandoned baby girl, he learns she is destined to end the reign of the wicked Queen Bavmorda (Jean Marsh; “Upstairs, Downstairs”). My Thoughts:

Willow used to be one of my favorite movies as a child.  The movie, next to Top Gun, introduced me to actor, Val Kilmer, and set the stage for my love of fantasy movies.  Even though it didn't garner much success at the box office for director Ron Howard, it did create a Willow following, that was excited to see this film come to Blu-Ray for the first time last week.

I will not bore you with a review of the film, as it has been around for years, and either you have seen it and liked it, or passed it on the shelve at the movie story.  But, I will say that that bonus features make this film worth picking up if you are a true Willow fan.  In addition to deleted scenes, there is also a making of the movie with commentary by director Ron Howard.  My personal favorite of the many bonus features on this new release was the "Willow: An Unlikely Hero -- Personal Video Diary of Warwick Davis."

The Blu-Ray version of the movie plays in high definition, while the DVD version plays the standard version.  I watched both versions and have to say that I was impressed with the high definition Blu-ray version, and would opt to watch it this way if you pick up this new release.

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed watching this movie for the umpteenth time, and am so happy that it released to Blu-ray, so that I could add it to my movie collection.
