SPROUT®’S POPULAR NEW ORIGINAL SERIES, THE CHICA SHOW, TO DEBUT ON NBC KIDS ON SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 9

Sprout’s new hit preschool series, starring Chica the Chicken and featuring the voice of Mario Lopez, will double its reach to 115 million homes nationwide when it premieres on NBC Kids

"The Chica Show, Sprout’s newest original hit series, will join the NBC Kids Saturday morning lineup on February 9. The Chica Show, which made its television debut on 24-hour preschool television channel Sprout on November 24, 2012 and was the network’s highest-rated original series premiere to date, has since become one of the most popular shows on the network.  With its debut on NBC Kids, The Chica Show will double its reach to 115 million homes nationwide.

NBC Kids, programmed by Sprout and featuring Sprout hits such as Noodle and Doodle, Pajanimals and LazyTown, launched on July 7, 2012 and is presently ranked #1 among the broadcast kids blocks in households, kids ages 2-5 and women 18-49.  The three-hour Saturday morning block was designed specifically to address the developmental needs of preschool-aged children, and features educational series that promote active, healthy lifestyles.

“Adding The Chica Show to the NBC Kids Saturday morning programming block will introduce this wonderful new show to millions more preschoolers, who we know will fall in love Chica and her friends,” said Andrew Beecham, senior vice president of programming at Sprout.  “We’re thrilled to be able to offer the same high-quality Sprout programming to children and their parents on NBC Kids.”

The Chica Show is a mix of live action and animation that follows the imaginative adventures of Chica the Chicken and her cast of friends (including Stitches, an animated character voiced by Mario Lopez) as they explore all the whimsical, humorous costumes and accessories in the Costume Coop – a playful shop filled with every costume imaginable.  Chica helps her mom and dad in the Costume Coop, and when it closes, she and her friends magically transform into animated characters and set off on adventures that offer teachable moments for preschoolers – whether it’s going undersea to learn more about clean-up time, embarking on a voyage with Vikings to discover why manners are important, or even jetting off to a rock star concert to discover why practice makes perfect.

To celebrate the debut of The Chica Show on NBC Kids, Sprout is hosting an online sweepstakes where the Grand Prize winner will win a walk-on role on Season 2 of The Chica Show.  In addition, three weekly prizes will be awarded that include a Chica plush toy.  Contestants can enter the sweepstakes though Facebook, by “liking” Sprout, or via a mobile optimized sweeps page.  All entrants will receive a link to bonus content found at SproutOnline.com."
