Post Foods Rolls Out New Cereal Featuring Sesame Street Characters

"Post Foods, LLC is delighting kitchen tables with the introduction of Post Sesame Street Cereal, a wholesome, whole grain oat-based cereal for little ones. For years, toddlers have started their mornings watching their favorite furry friends, Elmo and Cookie Monster, on Sesame Street. Now they can also enjoy these characters' friendly faces at breakfast and snack times throughout the day.

New Post Sesame Street Cereal is available in two naturally-flavored varieties: A is for Apple and B is for Banana. This oat-based cereal provides two-thirds of a toddler's daily Whole Grains1 and contains nutrients to help support healthy brain development2. Both varieties have 1g of sugar per serving and contain no artificial flavors, providing a healthy option for breakfast and snacks.

"As a doctor who is also a mom to two young children, I'm thrilled to find a product that is a healthy option for my kids and was created with their specific nutritional and functional needs in mind," said Dr. Roshini Raj , consulting physician for Post Sesame Street Cereal. "The Whole Grain content and fortification of nutrients like choline, iron and zinc are essential to a growing toddler's diet."
The fun 'X' and 'O' shapes in each box are specifically designed for little fingers to easily grasp and are formulated to melt in a toddler's mouth quickly for safe and easy consumption. Not only will children be excited to start their day with Elmo and Cookie Monster, they will also enjoy the educational activities featured on the back of each box, encouraging number and letter skills, and bringing even more fun to snack and mealtimes.

New Post Sesame Street Cereal is now available at Walmart and grocery stores nationwide.
Sesame Workshop (the nonprofit educational organization behind Sesame Street) strives to help young children and their caregivers establish an early foundation of healthy habits through Sesame Street's "Healthy Habits for Life" initiative."

My Thoughts:

I was recently sent a box of each of the two new Post Sesame Street cereals for my girls to try.  As soon as they saw Elmo and Cookie Monster on the boxes, they ran over to get a better look.  They are not big fans of breakfast, and will only eat dry cereal on occasion, so I wasn't sure how they would react to this new cereal.  But, because it had two of their favorite Sesame Street characters on the box, they were game to try it with me.

I asked which flavor they wanted to try, either the apple or the banana flavored cereal.  Go figure, Savannah wanted to try the apple one, while Arabella grabbed for banana.  Elmo Apple and Cookie Monster Banana were a huge hit with the girls, who kept asking me to refill their snack cups with more X and O cereal.  And, as a parent, what I loved most about this wholesome cereal is that it provides 2/3 of your toddler's daily whole grains, contains nutrients to support healthy brain development, has no artificial flavors and is low in sugar.  I even tried the cereal, and loved the flavor.  Surprisingly, it was not too sugary, like you would expect from a child's cereal, and really did melt in your mouth, which is great for Arabella, who is transitioning to solid foods. And, the “X” and “O” shapes in each box are specifically designed for little fingers to easily grasp for even the youngest of children. :-)

I grew up loving Post cereal, and am so happy to continue the tradition with my children, and being able to buy cereal like the new Sesame Street cereal for them.  I can't wait to see what they come out with next. :-)

If you are looking for a new cereal to introduce to your child, or if they like Sesame Street, why not pick up this cereal to try?  I don't think my girls would have tried it otherwise, if Cookie Monster and Elmo were not on the cover.  But, once they tried each flavor, they were hooked, and ask for this breakfast cereal each morning -- with and without milk -- it takes great either way.
