Looking for Something to Do Today in Worcester, MA? Take in Chi of Shaolin -- The Tale of the Dragon by the Imperial Acrobats of China at the Hanover Theatre (Review)

What a great family night out we had last night.  We ended up taking the girls into Worcester, MA to The Hanover Theatre to see a performance of Chi of Shaolin -- The Tale of the Dragon by the Imperial Acrobats of China.  My husband and I have seen the Imperial Acrobats of China a few times before, and always loved their shows.  But, this was the first time we would be taking the girls (as they weren't born yet when we went to the previous shows), and go as a family.  As we walked into the beautiful theatre (if you haven't been the Hanover Theatre you really must go and witness the interior -- truly breathtaking), I was surprised and happy to see a full house, which included couples and families.  Children ranged from toddlers through the college years, which was great to see as this show is truly meant for families of all ages to enjoy together.

As the curtains came up and the show began, you could feel the excitement in the audience.  My favorite part of the show was the drum sequence, while the girls both sat up and took note of the ladies balancing the plates.  The energy of the Imperial Acrobats of China cast resonated with the audience.  I continually panned the audience to see everyone's eyes on the stage.  And, when a scene in the performance took to the audience, everyone got excited and the anticipation grew from there.

This show didn't have an intermission, which I liked, as I don't think I could contain myself waiting for the show to begin again.  All the acts were truly mesmerizing and looked effortless.  The elegance of the ladies was stunning, while the stamina and martial arts talents of the men was amazing. :-)

Overall, we had a blast at the show, and even though it ran into the girls' bedtime schedule, they didn't fuss, and fell asleep as soon as we got home.  I guess they couldn't wait to get home and dream about the scenes they had witnessed in this spectacular theatrical performance.

So, if you are looking for something to do this afternoon with the family, or for date night, why not take in the final performance of a 2-day run of the Chi of Shaolin -- The Tale of the Dragon by the Imperial Acrobats of China at the Hanover Theatre in Worcester, MA at 2PM.?  Tickets are still available and can be purchased at the door or online (and held at will-call).  If you make it to the show, enjoy, as I know you will!  :-)
