Our Dogs are in Love with Cesar's New Meaty Selects (Review)

A couple of weeks ago I shared a review of Cesar's new Savory Delights food for dogs with you.  If you missed my post, click here to read it now -- http://www.inspiredbysavannah.com/2012/09/cesar-canine-cuisine-introduces-new.html.  Today, I wanted to share more about Cesar and another new product they added to their popular dog food line, Cesar Meaty Selects.

If you read my previous post, then you know that we have two rescue dogs now.  Our first rescue dog, Manny, had to be put down a few months ago, do to his poor health.  Before welcoming our two girls, our dogs were are children -- and still are.  They helped us prepare for parenthood with real children, as we had to house train them, break bad habits they came with as rescue dogs, all while enjoying the best gift of all -- unconditional love.

Even though our time is limited now in terms of daily walk and not being able to share the bed with them anymore, they still get treated like royalty in our house when it comes to food and treats.  Over the years, we have come to trust Cesar Brand dog foods, and they were Manny's favorite dinner option.  He wouldn't even let us take them out of the trays, as he liked to push them around the house and corner the dish against the wall, as he ate every last morsel of food. :-)  And, now his little sisters are following suite  and requesting Cesar Savory Delights and now Meaty Selects when the dinner bell rings.

In addition to the Cesar Savory Delight samples I was sent, Cesar also sent along two cans of their new Cesar Meaty Selects to let Abby and Lily sample.  I ended up having to pick up a couple more cans, as I knew that after they took their first bite, they would be begging for me.  And, I was right! :-)

The dogs must have thought it was Christmas come early with these juicy and oh so tasty Cesar meals.  What I liked best about the new Cesar Meaty Selects was that they come in a resealable 10-ounce can and are filled with tender meaty chunks.  Our littlest dog, Lily (who is actually 3 yrs. older than Abby) is missing her bottom two teeth.  So, when we choose dog food and treats, we always choose tender foods that she can enjoy.  As soon as I put her plate of food down, she went to town.  You would have thought by watching her that she hadn't eaten in days.  In less than 2 minutes flat, her plate was licked clean, and she was jumping at our leg asking for more.  When we asked if she like it, she gave a few loud barks -- which in dog language meant "Yes!!!, It is the best dog food ever." :-)

Abby, on the other hand, enjoyed having the Cesar Meaty selects mixed in with her favorite dry dog food.  But, if served alone, she would eat it just as fast as Lily, as she wouldn't want to share. :-)

Overall, our dogs are loving these new additions to the Cesar dog food line.  And, they will be surprised come Christmas when Santa brings them a stocking full of Cesar treats and dog food for small dogs.

Note for those pet owners who are introducing Cesar Dog Food for the first time in their dog's diet.  Please follow these steps to help transition them and prevent an upset belly --
  • When transitioning from one food to another, please remember to introduce the new food gradually so as not to upset your dog’s stomach.
    • For the first two days or so, your dog’s meals should be about 75% old food and 25% new food. Mix the two foods together, don’t keep them separated.
    • If the first couple of days of the transition go smoothly, you can mix 50% of your dog’s old food with 50% of the new food on days 3 and 4.
    • On days 5 and 6, your dog’s meals should be about 75% new food and only 25% of the old food.
    • On day 7 let your dog enjoy 100% of the new Cesar dog food!
