Barilla Microwaveable Meals -- Great For Busy Moms On the Go (Review and Giveaway)

Busy moms take note of the new product offering from Barilla,  microwaveable pasta bowls .  I recently had the opportunity to try out their 5 new flavors and absolutely love them.  With two young children at home, I find it hard to have a healthy lunch on those crazy days -- which now that Arabella is teething and Savannah is becoming more needy when she sees me playing with Arabella), I am lucky if I eat lunch at a reasonable hour, if at all.  But, if you have 60 seconds to spare, then you can quickly pop these trays in the microwave and have a delicious tasting bowl of pasta and sauce to enjoy.

Even if I can't physically sit down to eat, I love the convenience of a 60 second meal to prepare, and then I can pick at it, as I move in and out of the kitchen. Prior to trying these new Barilla Microwaveable Meals, I found myself turning to other frozen dinners, which weren't that nutritious and contained high amounts of salt and preservatives.  Oftentimes I would finish these frozen meals and still feel hunger, on top of being thirsty from the salt.  But, after trying the Barilla Microwaveable Meals, I am left feeling full and satisfied.  And, the best part about these meals, besides the quick and easy prep time is that they are made with 100% natural ingredients, have no preservatives and are relatively low in calories (only 320 calories per meal).  All meals provide between 9g and 11g of protein.  The pasta is an excellent source of fiber, while the sauce is a good source of vitamin A.  Also, you have the option of choosing between two whole grain options, and can add as little or all of pasta sauce, as the tray offers 2 separate compartments for the pasta and sauce.

Mezze Penne with Tomato & Basil Sauce

Now that Savannah is beginning to copy what I say and do, I want to begin instilling in her the importance of a well balanced meal, and how even if you are pressed for time like I am, that you can still enjoy a healthy and satisfying meal.  Just yesterday, I sat down with her for lunch.  She had asked for a bowl of raviolis, while I prepared the Mezze  Penne with Tomato & Basil Sauce meal.  When she saw my meal, she pushed her plate out of the way and wanted to share my lunch.  Now, if I was eating a frozen dinner, I would not offer her any due to the high salt and caloric levels.  But, knowing that Barilla only uses 100% natural ingredients and how tasty their microwavable meals is, I shared my lunch with her.  Usually, she is not a fan of tomato sauce, but devoured half the meal.  By the time we were done with lunch, she wanted more, and kept saying "Yum Yum" as she rubbed her belly.

As a busy mom, I wouldn't hesitate in offering these microwavable bowls from Barilla if I find myself in a pinch for dinner and need a healthy meal to offer the family.  Now that I know that Savannah enjoys the pasta bowls just as much as me, and my husband has become a fan after taking a meal to work, it is a healthier alternative to fast food take out.  And, with a shelf life of 12 months, these are great to have in the pantry for grab and go meals.
