Now Available: KIDZ BOP 22 -- Music for Kids, Sung by Kids (Review)

I have found that the best way to keep young children entertained during long car rides is music.  Yes, music!  I am not talking having them listen to old.  I remember as a kid how boring car rides to NH and ME would be, as we didn't have portable dvd players or iPods.  Instead, my brothers and I would share walkmans, until the batteries died.  Not fun, when you are halfway to your destination, and have to sit in silence.  We couldn't wrap our heads around the oldies my parents would listen to.  But, flash forward 30+ years and children have it so much easier. :-)  Now, you can play a movie, load an iPod, or simply bring along CDs to listen to.  During our recent 3-hour drive to NH, I filled the 6-Disc CD changer in the car with family-friendly music.

Having never had listened to KIDZ BOP music before, we were in for a treat.  I love listening to top 40 music on the radio, but have to refrain when the girls are in the car, as many lyrics are not appropriate for young ears.  So, when this CD began playing, I wasn't sure what to think.  As I let the first song, by Kelly Clarkson, play, I loved how young children were singing this chart topper, and how the lyrics were age appropriate.  "Yes," I thought to myself.  "Now I can listen to top 40 music with my child, without feeling embarrassed by the lyrics, or having the need to quickly flip to another channel when an inappropriate song came on.

It was hard to choose a favorite song from this 16 track CD.  Each and every song is currently being played on mainstream radio (as well as part of my iTunes library).  Look what songs are available on this CD:

1. Stronger

2. Call Me Maybe
3. Starships
4. Domino
5. Payphone
6. Wild Ones
7. Glad You Came
8. Drive By
9. Part Of Me
10. What Makes You Beautiful
11. Dance Again
12. Boyfriend
13. Feel So Close
14. Somebody That I Used To Know
15. Tonight Is The Night
16. Set Fire To The Rain feat. Ethan Bortnick

Savannah, however, seemed to bebop more to the track, Dance Again.  I'll have to upload some videos I took while watching her bob her head and pump her arms, all while sitting in her car seat the other day :-) I especially loved how she learned the song within a matter of minutes, and began singing along. :-)  She really knows how to pass time while traveling.

So, if you have young children who love music just as much as you do, but want to make sure what they are listening to is age-appropriate, then KIDZ BOP CDs are what you need.  Why not start with this recent release?  I did and have since bought a few others, which we are enjoying in the car and at home.  Who doesn't like a family dance party?  :-)
