Feature Friday -- P.J. Printable Party Sets by Adjua Ferguson (Review and Giveaway)

This was a fun Feature Friday review to do, as I was able to stage a birthday party for Savannah.  The reason being is that I was sent party supplies from Adjua Ferguson, owner of P.J. Tuttles Party Decor.  Adjua offers  a party collection that celebrates girls of color, featuring an adorable and relatable character.  She came up with this idea while shopping for her daughter's birthday party.  Major retailers lacked party themes for girls of colors (outside of Dora and Princess Tiana).  So, after being laid off, she began working on a party collection for her daughter and other girls of color.  In addition to selling her standard party collection supplies, Adjua also offers custom design.

With Savannah's 2nd birthday a couple months away (July 19th), I, too, have noticed the lack of party supplies for girls of color, especially Latinas.  If you don't know, my husband is from El Salvador, while I was born here in the US.  Both of our daughters have his dark skin.  Knowing that I was reviewing Adjua's party supplies, I recently went into a few stationary and party supply stores and asked for invitations for girls of color.  I was disappointed when I was shown the Dora the Explorer party supplies.  Even though Savannah is a fan of Dora and Diego, doesn't mean she has to have a Dora party because she is a Latina.  One retailer went as far as to show me pinatas to buy.  Hmm. I don't think so.

So, when I received Adjua's samples in the mail, I was elated, as I finally had a place to shop for party invitations for Savannah.  Even though Savannah is lighter compared to Adjua's adorable character, it was still better than the standard Dora party supplies.  You would think with all the nationalities we are lucky enough to have and celebrate here in the US, that retailers would be jumping on the band wagon to create products for everyone.  Yes, they have African American, Latina and Indian dolls, but families with children of color want to be able to shop and buy items like stationary and party supplies that depict the likeness of their children and heritage. Thanks to Adjua and her P.J. Tuttles Party Decor business, she is paving the way for this much product offering.  Hats off to her for making her daughter, and other girls, including Savannah, feel special, when they have a birthday party, featuring her party supplies for girls of color.

Don't forget to head back here at the end of June, when I will be spotlight Adjua Ferguson as a Spotlight Mom.  I can't wait for you to read my interview with her.  Her story is truly inspirational, and one not to miss.

But, in the meantime, please enjoy the photos I took of Savannah pretending to celebrate her 2nd birthday.  Photos includes a banner that Adjua created, cupcake toppers, invitations and greeting cards.
