My Thoughts:
I was first introduced to Mo Willems when I picked up the Knuffle Bunny books to read to Savannah, prior to her being born. As my husband and I lay in bed at the end of the night, we would take turns reading books to Savannah in the womb, so that she would recognize our voices. After I read Knuffle Bunny: A Cautionary Tale in English, my husband would follow up with the same story, but in Spanish. As we read this and other Mo Willems titles to her, we would always look at each other and smile as we liked his style of writing, and knew that once we welcomed her into this world, that these books would become bedtime books -- which they have. Savannah loves pointing to the bunny as we read the stories to her. And, one of her first words, after Mommy and Daddy was bunny.
In addition to the Knuffle Bunny books, we also picked up Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus to share, which Savannah couldn't get enough of. She loves the pigeon so much, that she has an app on her Daddy's iPad from Mo Willems, that lets her draw her own pigeon, as well as read this and other Pigeon stories to her. So, when I heard they were coming out with a DVD set of Mo Willems' Pigeons and Pals, I knew I had to get a copy and share with Savannah. With 113 minutes of classic Mo Willems fun and storytelling, your little Mo Willems fan will be in heaven. It has been hard to choose a favorite story, as Savannah, her Daddy and I love to watch each and every one. I have lost count on the number of times we have watched this two-disc set in its entirety since receiving for review. And, for older children and adults, you will love the interview with Mo Willems, which is part of the bonus features.
