Disney Publishing Unveils Peter Pan Disney Classics Storybook App (Review)

“Peter Pan”, the first in a series of Disney Classics storybook apps available for iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch, launched today.  Featuring original illustrations by Disney Legends John Hench and Al Dempster, readers can relive the magical story of the classic film Peter Pan through word-for-word narration, multiple reading modes and interactive surprises.

The Peter Pan App invites readers to join Wendy, John, and Michael on their adventures with Peter Pan and Tinker Bell, the Lost Boys, Captain Hook and his swashbuckling crew of pirates.  Built into the story are interactive puzzles, coloring pages, a leveled-memory matching game and musical instrument, as well as tap-and-play interactivity.

Over the next few months, Peter Pan will be followed by several other Disney Classics tales, including Jungle Book, The Aristocats and Bambi.

My Thoughts:

Who doesn't like Disney classics like Peter Pan?  And, now thanks to the folks at Disney Publishing, families can enjoy this classic storybook brought to life in a new storybook app for the iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch. As a child, I was a fan of Peter Pan, especially because of the storyline and the characters, like Tinkerbell and Peter Pan.  So, it is only fitting that I can now share my love for Disney classics with my daughters.

I was sent a code to download and review this app, and couldn't wait to try it out with Savannah.  This app is similar to other Disney storybook apps, in which you can choose to have the story read to you, or you can read it yourself.  When you are not enjoying this classic story, with original illustrations, both you and your child will enjoy the extra features which include a memory game, puzzles, coloring sheets and the ability to play a flute.  Savannah got a kick out of playing the flute and loved playing the memory game.

Since downloading it this afternoon, we have read this family classic a few times, with the final time as a read along for bedtime.  Before the story ended, Savannah drifted off to sleep.  I wonder if she will be dreaming about traveling to Never land and seeing Peter Pan?  I remember as a child, after watching this film, I would dream about what it would be like if there actually was a Never land.  And, now 20+ years later, I can share in the fun with my daughters, as they imagine what Never land would be like, thanks to the interactive app from Disney Publishing.

If you are a fan of the other Disney Publishing Storybook apps, you will definitely love this new app from Disney.  I can't wait to try out the other Disney classics set to be released later this year, especially Bambi and the Jungle Book. What Disney Classic was your favorite?  I'd love to hear your thoughts on this app, after you download and play with your little one(s).

Disclosure:  I was sent a code to download this app for free, in order to write up an honest review.  The views above are mine and mine alone.
