My Thoughts:

I was so excited to receive this box set, as I was a fan of “Little House” growing up.  My grandmother turned me on to the show, and even bought me the books.  I remember visiting her and having her pour me a tall glass of cold milk to have with the homemade Italian cookies she made for my brothers and I.  Then, we would head into the living room and sprawl out on the floor and watch “Little House” episodes.  Those were special times that I will cherish, now that my grandmother has Alzheimer’s and doesn’t remember things.  But, this past Christmas, I went to visit her in the nursing home and brought the “Little House” box set.  I wasn’t sure what her reaction would be, but thought I would play a few of the discs in the background while visiting with her.  My father said that if I went there early in the AM, she was more coherent, so when I arrived at 9AM, I wanted to see if she remembered me.  She smiled upon my arrival, but shortly after talking with her, she just thought I was a nice, young girl visiting.  I popped in the first disc, and after 10 minutes, she turned to me and asked if I wanted a glass of milk and cookies.  What a great moment that was.  I stayed for a while and watched 3 out of the 9 seasons (which are on 55 discs in total) with her.  When I had to leave, she asked if I was coming back to watch the rest of the series and said she would have cookies the next time.  I ended up leaving the box set for her to watch, and have found out from my father who visits her frequently that she watches this daily and talks to him and the nurses about how she watches this with her grandchildren.

So, thanks to this DVD set, I am able to relieve sweet memories, and was able to bring a smile to my Grandma’s face.  If you grew up watching “Little House” and loved it as much as I did, why not consider picking up this DVD box set to relive special moments from the this popular series.  Or, why not consider sharing it with your little ones.  I can’t wait until my daughters are older to snuggle with me and watch this wonderful and wholesome series.

Disclosure:  I was sent a sample from the vendor in order to write up an honest review.  The views above are mine and mine alone.
