My Thoughts:

I wish I had known about this machine back when I was pregnant with Savannah last year, as it would have been one of the first items I added to my registry.  Because I didn’t know about this and being first time parents who succumbed to the need for sleep by any means necessary, ended up inviting (well, not exactly) our daughter into our bed.  One night after dealing with constant crying and frequent up and down trips with her, my husband put her between us in bed.  And, since then, she has slept like a rock, minus her love for rolling around through the night, and push us closer to the edge of the bed.  I am glad that our new memory foam mattress purchase prior to her arrival is helping…her…sleep more restfully.  If I only I had the Sound+Sleep back then.  We could have drowned out the thunder and lightening and our 3 dogs barking that set off her crying and waking frequently.  Instead, our light sleep was disturbed by every little noise she heard and made us aware of this.

Now, 17 months later, we are still trying to break the co-sleeping habit, as now with a 1 month old in the room, it is hard to tend to both, and our frequent getting up to tend to the new baby is waking our daughter back up. Because of our restless nights again, my oldest daughter is napping again to catch up on her ZZZ’s.  So, I have come to use this machine to drown out the dogs barking when post man comes, the phone rings or the trash men come.  All these noises will wake her instantly from her sleep, causing her to be fussy the rest of the day – which is not good, when I have to tend to her and her 1 month old sister.

I have found this machine is helping our new daughter sleep longer and fall asleep quicker.  When I put on the fireplace or the waterfall sound mode, in minutes she is out like a light.  Again, why didn’t I know about the Sound+Sleep last year? Argg.

Well, while we continue to work on getting our daughter back into her own bedroom and bed, this machine is working like a charm come the afternoon when both daughters go down for a nap, and I need to keep the world around quiet, or least drowned out.

I love everything about this machine, including the sound options.  The only thing I would love to see is a remote.  With old-style wood floors in my house, wherever you walk, you make the floorboards squeak.  This will wake both girls up instantly.  I can’t even tip toe in the room to change the sound or shut the machine off if I wanted to .  But, if I had a remote, I could stand at the door and make any necessary changes to the sound or volume.
