Postcards from Antarctica and Mr. Popper’s Penguins

 

Now you can win your very own copy of Mr. Popper’s Penguins on DVD by submitting a postcard to Penguin Science. Once your postcard is received, you will be entered to win one of 25 Popper’s Penguins Prize Pack containing the DVD and a penguin ice cube tray. Individuals and classes may submit.

 

Have your students design and create a self addressed and stamped postcard about penguins. Use the table to calculate the postage. As a class, send them to the address below and I will mail them back from the U.S. research station near the penguin colony in Antarctica. Each card will have the unique and valuable "Antarctica” postmark. This year 25 lucky penguin postcard artists will also receive a Mr. Popper’s Penguins DVD starring Jim Carrey.

No commercially printed postcards will be accepted or returned. All cards must be hand designed.

Entries must be postmarked between Nov 16 and Dec 31, 2011. Cards will be selected at random. Entries mailed after Dec 31, will not be returned.

FAQ:
1) Can we use the pre-stamped post cards sold at the post office for only $.29 each. Yes.

2) Can we use 3x5 cards as postcards? NO, the post office will not accept 3x5 cards. Minimum size is 3 ½ x 5 inches.

3) We have many students, and can not afford all the postage, can we still take part? Yes. Have your students draw a stamp on the post card. Mail the bundle of cards to me in a large envelope with a self address stamped large envelope for me to return them as a group. I will mark them individually with a fun penguin stamp and return them as a group to your school. The large envelope will have the much desired true "Antarctica" postmark for display in your room.

4) I am an individual and not a classroom, may I take part? Yes. Design your own postcard and send it in an envelope to me at the address above. Your name will be included in the drawing for the DVD and the postcard will be returned to you from Antarctica.
