What is the difference between coconut milk and coconut water?
O.N.E. Coconut Water is simply the water from inside the young, green coconut. It is a clear liquid with no fat or cholesterol. Coconut milk is a white liquid obtained by extracting the juice out of the coconut meat of a more mature (brown) coconut. Coconut milk and coconut water are very different in taste, appearance and nutrient content.
Does it taste like coconut?
O.N.E. Coconut Water has a sweet water taste. It tastes very different from coconut milk, which is not as sweet. Coconut Water comes from the young green coconut, not the brown, furry ripe coconut.
Is O.N.E. Coconut Water flavored water?
O.N.E.'s plain Coconut Water is simply the natural water from inside of a green coconut. There are no added sugars, water or preservatives. There is only O.N.E. ingredient! If you would like a splash of flavor, O.N.E. Coconut Water with a Splash adds fruit juices like pink guava, pineapple and mango.
Is O.N.E. Coconut Water raw?
Our coconut water undergoes a light pasteurization process. First, it is filtered naturally through the coconuts’ own dense fibers. Then we submit the natural coconut water to a light pasteurization process known as High Temperature Short Time (HTST). This 151-degree thermal treatment eliminates any microorganisms without harming or changing the integrity of the nutrients, leaving the coconut water sterile, pure and delicious, just like at harvest time. According to the FDA, it is important to have the product pasteurized for consumption.
Does it have to be refrigerated?
Before being opened, O.N.E. Coconut Water does not have to be refrigerated. However, it is best served chilled. After opening the carton container, O.N.E. Coconut Water can be kept refrigerated for several days. All O.N.E. Drinks are aseptically packaged in Tetra Pak cartons – meaning they do not touch light or air until you pull the silver tab.
My Thoughts:
I was sent a pack of O.N.E. Coconut Water to sample recently and have to say that is drink was tasty. Like it is stated above, this beverage is best served chilled. I first tried this drink right from the shipping box, but it wasn’t as appealing at the second carton I had later in the day, which was chilled. I loved the sweet, yet subtle flavor of this coconut water, and couldn’t wait to see what my husband had to saw after trying it. He is from El Salvador, and grew up with coconut trees in his back yard. When he would go to the sidewalk markets, he would always get fresh coconut water as a refreshing drink to cool him down from the heat. So, his opinion of this water would be better than mine, as he is used to drinking coconut water and could spot a knock off drink, or one that didn’t contain coconut, etc.
When he arrived home from work the other day, I poured him a glass of O.N.E. Coconut Water to try. I didn’t tell him what he was drinking, as he thought it was water. After the first sip, he smiled and said, “You got me coconut water!?” “This is really tasty,” he exclaimed, and continued to guzzle down the drink, and then asked for more. Based on this reaction, I could tell he enjoyed O.N.E coconut water. Since then, my husband has been taking a carton a day with him to enjoy alongside his lunch He loves how this drink is natural and not sweetened like other so-called coconut waters. We will definitely continue to buy O.N.E. Drinks from now on. I can’t wait to try some of the other flavors, including their Kid’s Line of drinks with my daughter.
