Holiday DVDs to Watch – Great Bible Stories: Volume 1

imageClick here to buy now.

Witness a touching depiction of sacred events from the Bible and Jesus' teachings with this engaging collection of six short films. A blind man's sight is restored because he sees Jesus as his divine Savior ("Seeing"), a woman's touch becomes an act of faith when she is miraculously healed after she touches Christ's garment ("The Touch"), and a widow faithfully gives away her remaining food during a famine ("Elijah and the Widow of Zarephath").

Then, a Jewish man saves his enemy from certain death ("The Good Samaritan"), and in "Akedah (The Binding)," Abraham nearly sacrifices his only son Isaac. In addition, "The Sisters of Bethany" focuses on the important roles Mary and Martha had in Christ's ministry and teaching. Full of inspiring reenactments that bring Scripture to life, Great Bible Stories: Volume 1 was awarded the Dove Foundation's highest honor of five doves.

My Thoughts:

After viewing this DVD, I can see why it was awarded the Dove Foundation’s highest honor of five doves.  It truly brought each Scripture to life and did an excellent job in teaching people about these sacred events found in the Bible.  This DVD would be great to share with young children who are learning about the Bible, as well as the faithful who want to see a great collection of short films, depicting the teachings of Jesus.  I can’t wait until my daughters get older and begin asking questions about Jesus and the Bible.  This will be the perfect opportunity to share this wonderful DVD of short stories with them.  And, the length of each is just right for young children, who have short attention spans.  After each short film, you can discuss these sacred events with them.

If you enjoy faith-based films about Jesus and the Bible, then you will enjoy this DVD.  I can’t wait to view volume 2+ in this DVD series.

Disclosure:  I was sent a copy of this DVD from the vendor in order to write up an honest review.  The views above are mine and mine alone.
