Holiday DVDs to Watch: Barbie: A Perfect Christmas (Product Review)

Join BarbieTM and her sisters SkipperTM, StacieTM and Chelsea TM as their holiday vacation plans turn into a most unexpected adventure and heartwarming lesson. After a snowstorm diverts their plane, the girls find themselves far from their New York destination and their holiday dreams. Now stranded at a remote inn in the tiny town of Tannenbaum, the sisters are welcomed by new friends and magical experiences. In appreciation for the wonderful hospitality they receive, they use their musical talents to put on a performance for the whole town. BarbieTM and her sisters realize the joy of being together is what really makes A Perfect Christmas!

My Thoughts:

I wish I had videotaped my daughter watching this movie for the first time last week.  She couldn’t stop dancing and swaying to the catchy Christmas songs.  It was so cute.  Even though she is not talking yet in full sentences, her rambling renditions of the songs were so cute.  You would have thought she had seen this movie before and was singing along.  Ahh, it was priceless.

This was the first time I have seen a Barbie movie, as they didn’t have these when I was growing up.  So, I didn’t know what to expect, and kept my expectations low.  Overall, I have to say that I was impressed with the animation of the characters, and thought the storyline was cute.  It would appeal to the younger audience (2-8 years of age).  I was not keen on the singing and a few of the tunes, but seeing my daughter enjoy this movie, made it worthwhile sitting there and watching it with her.  I guess you have to be a kid to enjoy movies like this.

The message in this movie – the joy of being together and family makes for a perfect Christmas – is perfect for this time of year.  And, there was no violence or inappropriate content in this film for the younger crowd, so you will not have to worry about screening it in advance of your child viewing it.

If you child is a fan of Barbie and the other Barbie movies, then they will love this new release just in time for the holiday season.
