What are their ages? 3 and 1 and a half
Your hobbies? Etc. Anything outside!! I teach horseback riding. We as a family are marathoners, tri- athletes and hikers, backpackers.

Briefly explain your business.  How did it come about?

Out of necessity. When Miles was 2 months old we went on our first camping trip with him. We knew we were going to go backpack part of the Appalachian Trail with him when he was 9 months old. We needed something that was organic, lightweight, easy to carry and easy to prepare while in the back country.

What is a typical work day like?

With a new business and two toddlers, no work day is typical. Thank goodness for the Internet!!

What has been a struggle while starting up your company?

Balancing the mommy time with getting a brand new company off the ground.

What did you do in your past work life?

I was a scrub nurse and I also teach horseback riding.

Getting into stores and magazines.

What have been some of your major challenges?

Getting into stores and magazines, and making a product we are proud to stand behind.

On those impossible days, what motivates you to keep going?

We want to be a part of pushing the youth and families in this word to be healthy and active while the current trend is unfortunately moving in the opposite direction.

What is your balancing secret in managing a business and family?

Ask for help! I have an amazing family and friend support system. Don't stress out when it's easily avoided by having someone else take the reins for a moment.

What is next for your business?

Going nationally and internationally

Do you have any advice for other mom entrepreneurs that are starting out and struggling, or are on the fence about starting a business?

Our children follow us closely with what we do. They know when we are hesitant in life and our choices. The best gift you could give yourself and your children is not doubting your abilities to succeed. Just do it!!
