Country Crock and Fruit & Veggies More Matters Partner for MyPlate Makeover Challenge

Last night I participated in a Twitter party put on by Country Crock, in partnership with Fruits & Veggies More Matters MyPlate Makeover ChallengeCountry Crock wants to show people how easy it can be to fill half your plate with veggies.  The Twitter party ran from 7-9PM CST and during this fun event, they offered giveaways, shared the MyPlate recipe that follows the new food icon, talked about veggies and shared other tips and recipes for followers to try out and comment on.  Who knew that Country Crock contains 70% less saturated fat and 30% fewer calories than butter.  I will definitely be switching to Country Crock when topping my veggie dishes from now on.

I had a great time participating in this event and ended up trying out the MyPlate recipe this evening for dinner -- herbed chicken with broccoli.  It tasted as good as it sounds!  Click here to get the recipe for yourself, to try with your family one night for dinner. It was so easy to fix, and only took 30 minutes -- which is great for a busy mom like me.We even gave some to Savannah, serving it to her on the healthy kids plate Country Crock set me.

Prior to the Twitter party, Country Crock kindly sent me a kit which included the following:

·         Yummy recipes using Country Crock—including our new MyPlate recipe
·         Coupon for $1.50 off a tub of Country Crock
·         Healthy Kids plate
·         Spreader

Here are some healthy resources that Country Crock shared with me as part of their gift package they sent.  I have checked out these website and learned some valuable information, which I will use to offer more healthy alternatives to snacks and meals for the entire family.

Balancing Calories
Enjoy your food, but eat less.
  Avoid oversized portions.

  Foods to Increase
Make half your plate fruits and vegetables.
Make at least half your grains whole grains.
  Switch to fat-free or low-fat (1%) milk.

  Foods to Reduce
Compare sodium in foods like soup, bread, and frozen meals ― and choose the foods with lower numbers.
Drink water instead of sugary drinks.

Disclosure:  I received a package from Country Crock as stated above.  However, the views above are mine and mine alone.
