Spending Time Outdoors with Family -- We Took the Clorox2 Play 2Day pledge, Have You?

Before we welcomed our daughter, Savannah Rose, last July, my husband and I would find ourselves puttering around the house on the weekends.  We would either tackle household chores or relax from a busy and stressful work week.  Making time to get out and play or enjoy time outside was not that important to us.  But, not that we have a daughter, things have changed.  Now, I am a stay at home mom, and spend my work week with our daughter.  Come Friday, both my husband and I look forward to the weekend and day trips and outings that we plan during the week, so that we can enjoy time with Savannah outside.  Even if it is a car ride through the scenic roads of CT, or a short trip to the local farmer's market, as long as we are spending time as a family outdoors, we are happy.  Gone are the days that we stay couped up in the house.  We would rather be enjoying the fresh outdoor air with Savannah, trying out new parks and playgrounds, checking out petting zoos, or just strolling the downtown shops in our quaint little town of Putnam, CT.

It is amazing how just by  having a child, your world changes and you begin to develop family traditions and routines.  Even though at times it gets stressful packing for a day trip with a toddler -- there have been times we ran out of diapers or formula and needed to make a pit stop at the store -- at the end of the day, it is nice to be together and enjoy outdoor time as a family.  Now, we can introduce Savannah to our favorite parks, hiking trails, off the beaten path spots, and so much more, all while discovering new things to do as a family with a child.

What a great time of year it is -- Fall.  The leaves are beginning to change and it is apple and pumpkin picking season.  This weekend, we plan to take Savannah apple and pumpkin picking, to a few Fall festivals and finish it up with a trip to a local corn maze.  Hopefully, the rain holds off and we can enjoy a busy and fun-filled weekend in the country -- just the 3 of us.  And, in a couple of weeks, we will be enjoying a month long event of walking weekend trips organized by TLGV here in CT.  Oh, how much fun we will have being outdoors and breathing in the crisp air, before winter sets and we can only watch from the window as the snow falls.

Do you spend time outside with your family?  Why not take the Clorox2 Play 2Day pledge today and get out there and enjoy the nice weather before winter comes!
