Magic By Moonlight (ISBN-13: 9781453758618) was published by Magic Moon Press through Amazon and is available at www.createspace.com/3476290, or on the amazon.com website.

Summary:

With a magical amulet in hand, three friends are whisked back in time to the Salem Witch Hunts, a terrible time in U.S. history. When Tituba, the Paris' slave, secretly teaches the children a lot more than housekeeping, like voodoo, fortune-telling, and spell casting, it leads to utter chaos in the village. Ultimately, Emily, Megan and Ben uncover a hidden secret which may alter the course of history.

Can they get the villagers to see what's really causing the fits and tantrums before they get accused of being witches themselves? Follow the friends on a fantastic adventure as they uncover a mystery when they travel back in time.

My Review:

This is a great book to share with your children, ages 8-12 yrs.of age, as an intro to history or the young adult fiction genre.  Having come from Massachusetts and learned about the Salem Witch Trials in school and through field trips, it was nice to see a book written about these true witch trials, in a way that can be both educational and fun to read with your child.  Even though my daughter is too young to read and understand this book right now, I, myself, read the book and shared with a friend who had children ages 8 and 10.  They loved the book.  The mom said it was easy to understand, and opened up discussion with their children about Salem and the witches.  And, best of all, because of this book, they are planning a trip to Salem this summer to learn more.  Now, the children are turned on to reading other books about true events that happened.

If your children are learning about the Salem Witch Trials or are history buffs -- or, love adventure -- then, this is a must read book.  There is no difficult vocabulary and descriptions that you would feel uncomfortable reading with your young child.  Who knows...maybe you will create a history lover out of your child after reading this page turner.
