Where did the summer go? I woke up on Saturday, and it was only in the upper 50's here in northeast CT. As soon as I stepped out of bed, I had to grab my bathrobe and bundle up, to try and get warm. Even the girls woke up in the night and needed another layer added, as they were cold. So, what do you do when you are cold? Well, for me, I reach for a hot cup of hot chocolate. Mmm! :-)
Not only was I am able to warm up instantly, but it gave me the opportunity to try out samples I was sent to review from 5 Sparrows.
I was sent an individual serving samples of their sugar free house chocolate, monumental spiced chai and house white chocolate, all sweetened with Stevia. Now, I have tried Stevia in the past (and also shared a review on), and now use whenever a recipe calls for sugar. You really can't tell the difference, and it is great knowing that it is healthy for you, and can be enjoyed by those with health issues. In addition to having Stevia, these powdered drink mixes are also gluten-free. So, how did they taste? I ended having the house chocolate, while my husband enjoyed a hot cup of monumental spiced chai with milk. What a way to take the chill out on a cold end of summer morning. The taste was amazing! My cup of cocoa, which I made with hot milk was oh so rich and creamy. The taste of chocolate lingered on my tongue, and the Stevia added just the right amount of sweetness one would expect with a cup of hot chocolate. As more my husband, he too enjoyed his spiced chai. I haven't had a chance to try the house white chocolate powdered mix, but expect to be in the coming days, as the weatherman is calling for more colder mornings. I guess summer doesn't last forever. :-( But, at least I will be staying warm thanks to 5 Sparrows and their powdered hot beverage mixes.
And, with the holidays right around the corner, these would make for great stocking stuffers or gifts for those hard to shop for people on your list. Or, start a new traditional with cocoa and cookies on Christmas Eve. :-)
