But readers can find hope, encouragement and practical advice in this new book. Plus helpful medical information from Harvard Medical School professor and weight management specialist Dr. Suzanne Koven.

My Thoughts:

I am not yet 50 years of age or older, so I passed this book along to my mother to read.  Like me, she is a fan of the Chicken Soup for the Soul series, and has read almost every book.   After speaking with her the other night, she couldn't stop talking about how much she likes this new Chicken Soup for the Soul book.  Like other women over the age of 50, who are going through menopause, she finds her ability to lose weight difficult.  At first, she thought it was her, but after reading through each of the inspirational stories included in this book, she felt comfort in knowing others struggle, too.  In addition to the inspirational stories told by other women over 50, my mother also enjoyed the new feature in this and other Chicken Soup for the Soul book, which includes medical explanations and practical tips.  I let her read the other book I reviewed recently on reducing stress, which also followed this same format -- inspirational stories, mixed in with reliable medical advice.

If you are a women over the age of 50, who is looking to make improvements to you life by way of losing weight or improving your diet, then this book will help guide you.  You will learn how to begin a new exercise regime, the proper way to count calories and eat right, as well as ways to improve negative thinking and stop emotional eating.  My mother has always found it difficult to find motivation when it comes to losing weight, but she felt a new push after reading this book.  What resonated with her most was the constant reminder that small changes will lead to big result.
