Father’s Day: The “Rodney Dangerfield” of Holidays.

Father’s Day is like the “Rodney Dangerfield” of holidays.  Everyone makes a big deal about Mother’s Day, but Father’s Day seems to be sort of an afterthought for many people…a last minute dinner at his favorite Sports Bar, or a Home Depot gift card, a card, movie tickets to see the new “Three Stooges” movie, etc..  Don’t get me wrong, these are all nice things that dads’ appreciate. But, why not  make him feel  REALLY special this year?

Make this Father’s Day the one he will never forget.  Let him know how much you appreciate everything he does for the family. Give him something he will look at every day, and be reminded of how important he is to his family.  He might not admit it to you, but trust me, it will matter to him.

Here’s my suggestion…a photo canvas print of one of his favorite photos.  It may be from a family vacation, doing something he loves (like fishing on a quiet stream), or horsing around with the kids and the dog.  It can really be anything.  My personal preference is to keep the photo informal and spontaneous, not a formal family portrait…why?  Because informal, unstaged photos capture the emotion of that moment much better, and evoke powerful emotions and  memories much more than professionally posed family portraits, which can be a little “stiff”.

I have found this great company, www.PhotoArtPeople.com, that has been doing this for 6 years.  They are experts at “coaxing the masterpiece out of each and every photo”, creating a real keepsake that even the most non-emotive male will cherish…OK “cherish” may be the wrong word, maybe “honor”  would be better for a typical dad.

The prints from PhotoArt People are printed on real canvas and stretched over an internal wooden frame, ready to hang right out of the box.  It even includes the wire on back.  Dad can hang it at home or at the office.  Bill, the founder of PhotoArt People tells me that he had a testimonial from a father who told him if his house was on fire, and once everyone was safely out, he would run into the burning house to get the canvas prints his daughters gave to him …they meant that much to him.

Bill has given me permission to offer you a special discount code to use when you order on their website, saving you 30%.  The exclusive promo code is RMedfe30.

Start a tradition this year to elevate Father’s Day to the status it deserves…and save 30% at the same time!  The gift dad’s would run into a burning house to retrieve.
