My Thoughts:

Having just had my second daughter back on 11/10, I am now getting back into exercising to help lose the weight I gained over the past 10 months.  Because it is still early on in the post natal stage, I am looking for exercise videos that are geared towards post-natal stages and that are not too strenuous.  This exercise DVD, fits the bill.

What I like best about this DVD, is that Tonya Larson is a certified prenatal/postnatal fitness instructor, so she knows the limitations a new mom who gave birth both naturally and via C-section has when it comes to exercising.  Through a relaxing exercise routine, you are able to relieve stress, muscle pain and get the blood flowing through your body.  Just after 2-3 uses of this exercise DVD, I saw a vast improvement in my mood, as  taking care of 2 children under the age of 2 all day can be stressful.  And, having to tote around a 20 lb. toddler and an 8 lb. newborn can really do a number on one’s back, so I am looking for easy ways to help relieve the lower back pain I am noticing from daily lifting.  This DVD offers wonderful routines which compact just that, in addition to teaching you proper stretching techniques, all while working areas hit hard by added pregnancy weight – arms, legs and stomach.

This low-intensity exercise DVD would be a great baby shower gift, or gift for a new mom.  And, at only 47 minutes in length, and not having to have any special equipment or mats on hand, it is perfect to do when the baby goes down for a nap.  I try and fit this exercise DVD in during my daughters’ lunch time nap, so that when they get up, I am ready to handle the afternoon with them, as they both wake up with added energy and are revving to go.  And, if one baby wakes up in the midst of the routine, I can always go back and complete the entire workout later, as this DVD allows you to break up the exercises into segments, if you are limited on time.

Product Review and Giveaway: BeFit-Mom's Bounce Back Fast! Post Natal Core Conditioning DVD with Helene Byrne

I was sent a copy of the Bounce Back Fast! Post Natal Core Conditioning DVD to try out.  Because I am currently pregnant with our second daughter, due in about 7 weeks, I enlisted a few girlfriends who recently gave birth to try out this DVD in their homes for a couple of weeks and let me know their thoughts, and if they saw any improvements.  Some of these moms are first time moms, while 2 already had children, and described losing the baby weight after each child as hard.  So, I couldn't wait to hear the reactions from each of the women I had try out the DVD.


The other night, I spoke with each of them over the phone and couldn't believe how each raved about this DVD.  Some said they had tried other post-natal exercise DVD's or had hit up the gym, if they were able to find a sitter, but how they felt after completing this DVD against the other forms of exercise didn't compare.  They all liked how this DVD was created for all fitness levels and that each exercise segment was only 30-35 minutes, giving them enough time to tackle a segment and then shower prior to the baby waking up, etc.  Everyone agreed in that their favorite part about this DVD was the bonus features, which included exercises (all under 10 minutes) that helped strengthen their pelvic and abdominal muscles.  This was key for all the women, as these areas are worked the post during the pregnancy, and you really need to find the right exercises that will target these areas, in order to strengthen them right after birth.  Yes, you can do kegal exercises, but you always need that little extra to get your body back into shape after baby.  

The exercises were easy to do and the instruction was straight forward, one of my girlfriends said.  She had tried other exercise videos in the past before conceiving and got frustrated as the instructor seemed to go too fast for her to grasp the exercise correctly, or she lost interest as the exercises seemed to be repetitive.  

Based on all the above comments and the positive feedback I received about this DVD from my friends, I can't wait to try out this DVD for myself once our daughter is born in November.  I still had some baby weight I was trying to shred with Savannah when we conceived again.  So, I am expecting to work extra hard to shed this excess weight and the new weight I gained with this pregnancy.  I'll keep you all posted on my own personal thoughts of this DVD once I try it out for myself.
