MinuteClinic and CVS -- Your One-Stop Shopping Destination for Cold-Cough and Flu Essentials #MC #Sponsored

Disclosure: I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting #MC for CVS MinuteClinic. I received promotional items as a thank you for participating.

One thing that I learned early on when becoming a parent is that kids get sick...a lot.  From a simple runny nose or congestion, to a full blown head cold or even the flu, kids are more susceptible to picking up germs, getting sick and then passing it around the house.  I don't know about you, but my girls always seem to show symptoms or complain of not feeling when in the wee hours of the morning, or after the pediatricians office closing in the evening. So, this only leaves us with a couple of options -- wait it out until the morning and hope we can get a sick visit scheduled, call the 24/7 nurse hotline offered through our insurance to talk with a skilled nurse about the symptoms our child is experiencing or describing in hopes to run to the 24/7 grocery store and pick up medicine to start at-home treatment, call the doctor on call from our pediatricians office to get advice, or our last resort and most expensive is to take our child to the ER to be seen.  While these are all options, they really don't help much when your child is not feeling well, and you can't whisk them up to the pediatrician's office for a quick visit.

But, now I can add another option to the list, which I love, and that is visiting the MinuteClinic at my local CVS, which is only minutes from my house.  Not familiar with the MinuteClinic?

The MinuteClinic is a walk-in clinic located in select CVS/pharmacy stores in 28 states and DC. Open 7 days a week, including evening hours --- And, the best part...you don’t need to make an appointment; simply walk in wait to be seen by board certified nurse practitioners and physician assistants.

"MinuteClinic can be a convenient and affordable option, especially during the winter months when physician offices may not be able to provide a timely appointment and the ER and urgent care centers have longer wait times and higher costs.  MinuteClinic and CVS are a great one-stop shop for cough-cold and flu needs. You can visit MinuteClinic to vaccinate, diagnosis, treat and prescribe for cough-cold and flu, and equip your house with wintertime cough-cold essentials at CVS."

Now, how is that for convenience! :-) And, with MinuteClinic offering a wide range of vaccinations for children, adolescents, teens and adults including flu, pertussis (whooping cough), meningitis and others, my husband and I don't have to take time off of work or find a babysitter to make a scheduled doctor's appointment, just for vaccination.  I especially how our MinuteClinic is open on weekends, as this is the time that we find ourselves needing to address an illness.  From a variety of common family illnesses, such as strep throat, ear infections, pink eye and UTIs, the skilled nurse practitioners and PA's at the local MinuteClinic can help diagnosis and treat our ailments, without the hassle of long waiting time at the local Urgent Care or ER.     And, most insurance is accepted (or, if you don't have insurance, MinuteClinic accepts cash, checks or credit cards, making it affordable and easy to receive the care you need, when you need it.

Is It a Cold? Or Is It the Flu?
And What Do You Do?

One of the things I hate about the winter months is dealing with the cold and flu season.  Even though we make a point to get the flu shot each year, some years, we wind up getting a cold, while others we are knocked down with the flu.  But, with similar symptoms, and both making you feeling lousy, how can you tell the difference?  Knowing the difference between a cold and the flu will help you explain your symptoms better to a doctor, or seek over the counter medicine to treat your symptoms at home, depending on if it is a cold or the flu.  A great article to help tell the difference between a cold and the flu can be found here:  http://bit.ly/18ca8La.

I made a point to print out this piece, as it not only talks abouts the symptoms of each, but also share ways to help prevent colds, and even suggests when you should call a doctor.  This is a must-read article for families with children.  I always find myself wondering if what the girls are experiencing is a cold, flu, or something else.  And, if I know the difference, then I can start on treatment by picking up OTC medicine day or night, and not having to wait until we can get an appointment to see the doctor.

So, don't stress the next time you find yourself with a sick child, or feel under the weather and the doctor's office is closed.  Consider stopping by your local CVS to visit the MinuteClinic, and be on the path to feeling better quicker.  For hours and locations for a MinuteClinic nearest you, visit www.minuteclinic.com/locations

Get Ready to Save at Rakuten.com Shopping's Upcoming Black Friday and Cyber Monday Sales

Disclosure:  In exchange for sharing more about Rakuten.com Shopping, along with their upcoming holiday sales, the vendor provided compensation through a product sample.  However, all views shared are mine and mine alone.

Rakuten.com

This past Halloween, I shared a post with you about how I was introduced to Rakuten.com Shopping, while being able to try out a fun outdoor Halloween decoration, which I have to say made for a fun backdrop for capturing cute photos of the girls, like these:

So many of you commented on my social media posts of these photos, as well as dropped me an email to tell me how the girls put a smile on your face.  Also, the giveaway I hosted for a $50 store credit to Rakuten.com Shopping, was one of my most entered giveaways this year.  The winner even emailed me the other day to let me know that she used her credit to buy her granddaughter a Disney princess club chair for her birthday.  The photos she shared of her granddaughter reading in the chair and sitting in it watching television with a big smile, made me smile, just as the photos I shared of Savannah and Arabella with the cute outdoor pumpkin light up decorations that were provided by the folks at Rakuten.com Shopping brought smiles to your faces.

With only a few weeks until Christmas, families are sitting down to make their game plans for Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales.  I wanted to make sure you knew about some amazing deals being offered over at Rakuten.com Shopping, and how this online shopping site could save you time and money when it comes to finding just the right gift for every person on your holiday shopping list...even those hard to shop for people. :-)

Like I shared in my Halloween post for Rakuten.com Shopping, this online store is your one stop shopping destination for everyday items, and gifts for every occasion. Rakuten.com Shopping is a leading online retailer that offers a huge range of products, including; clothing, gadgets, health & beauty, toys & baby and so much more.  Besides their amazing selection of products for every member of the family and for all occasions, most of the products available on their site can be delivered to your door in 1 – 2 days, with numerous products being offered with FREE shipping.  How great is that?  One of the things I hate about ordering from online retailers, is how long it takes to ship and then arrive at my house.  Usually I turn to online retailers for the convenience and ease of shopping from home, as it just gets too crazy trying to get two toddlers ready to go out, and then deal with them acting up once we get to the stores. It is just so much easier, and less stressful.  But, when it comes to buying gifts for special occasions, or even decorations for certain holidays, you don't want to wait forever and a day for the items to arrive.

So, what does Rakuten.com Shopping have in store for customers this upcoming Black Friday and Cyber Monday?  With so many deals and steals happening during these two major shopping days of the year, a few highlights of the sale include:

·         25% off Dyson + $25 back
·         10% back (in Rakuten Super Points) on all orders from Sat-Sun 11/30-12/1
·         Free shipping
·         Deals and doorbusters on big name tech, gadgets, clothing, accessories and
electronics for everyone on your list.

I could go on and on about the amazing sales you will find at Rakuten.com Shopping.  But, why not check out their site for yourself?  Being a busy mom on the go, I don't have the luxury to shop around for bargain prices and return items when I find then cheaper at other stores.  And, during the busy shopping season like Christmas, I will not be braving the cold and standing in long lines to the must-have toys, as I can do all my shopping online at sites like Rakuten.com Shopping, all while saving money and time.  And, with the holidays fast approaching, who doesn't like to save money.  If you love online shopping like I do, once you visit Rakuten.com Shopping, you will see why my holiday shopping this year is going to be easy.  I will not have to worry about comparing retailers to find the best deals, or have to make trips to different malls or department stores to pick up gifts for everyone on my list, from babies to the hardest to shop for.  Rakuten.com Shopping has it all and the best prices, all in one place -- what more is there to ask for?  Head on over to their website now and browse their Christmas Store for gift ideas, as well find holiday decor and much more, to make your Christmas that much more enjoyable this year -- http://www.rakuten.com/loc/holiday-store/71860.html?omadtrack=holidaystore_dropdown.

And, don't forget about Rakuten.com Shopping's Super Points.  Rakuten Super Points are the site’s rewards program that help you to reward yourself every time you purchase from the site. You can save your Points up to get the things you want for free or you can pay for part of your order with Points to get a discount. You earn 1 point per every dollar spent, that's like getting cash back on every purchase.  I love how Ratuken.com Shopping rewards you for shopping.  You can't say that for most online stores, can you? Kohl's Is Your One Stop Shop for Your Child's Back-to-School Needs #Sponsored

Disclosure: I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Kohl’s. I received a promotional item as a thank you for participating.

Kohl's Expect Great Things

I was like a kid last holiday season -- not because I was counting down the days until Santa arrived, but because we were getting a Kohl's right down the street from us, and it was opening on Black Friday, of all days.  Now, I know what you are thinking?  Getting excited over a store?  Well, if you live in my area of CT, the quiet corner, you are limited when it comes to shopping.  The closest mall is about a 40 minute drive away.  So, when I heard back in early 2011 that they would begin breaking ground during the summer of 2012, I couldn't wait for the ribbon cutting. :-)  And, while others were heading to their local malls on Black Friday, I was standing in line at Kohl's waiting for their doors to open.  And, since then, I have been shopping here for all my family's needs, as well as for gifts for family and friends.

If you haven't shopped a Kohl's store, you are missing out.  Not only do they carry quality brands when it comes to clothing and accessories for the whole family, from babies through adults, but they also have a home section with kitchen items and decor, a jewelry and perfume section and more.  Kohl's is truly a one stop shop for all your shopping needs.  And, I never leave empty handed here! :-)  Just the other day, Savannah wanted to go shopping for a gift for Arabella who had been sick.  She asked if we could go to Kohl's.  How could I say, "No."  Once there, she got into the cute wagons with the child seat in front, and directed me to the toy section in the back of the store.  Once there, she picked out a $5.00 Kohl's Cares Curious George stuffed plush toy, along with a fairy princess doll.  We couldn't resist shopping the clearance racks for end of summer finds, and to stock up for next season.

Once all was said and done, and we had been rung up at the register, I ended up saving over $150, as well as earned $40 in Kohl's cash, to use during a future shopping trip.  We will definitely be heading back soon, as Kohl's has become our back-to-school clothing stop for the kids -- and, this year is no different.  I am most looking forward to saving $$$ by combining my Kohl's Cash and Kohl's credit card discounts for greater savings!  How about you?  Will you be shopping Kohl's this back to school season?

Stay tuned in a couple of weeks when I will be sharing useful back to school shopping tips, as well as more about my own personal experience shopping Kohl's for all of my family's Back to School needs.
