Were you a fan of Beethoven the St. Bernard film that came out years ago?  If so, you will definitely want to check out the new movie featuring this fun loving dog in Beethoven's Treasure Tail.  This action filled comedy is a must for families with kids of all ages.  We watched this movie the other day with the girls and they were engaged from start to finish.  Having never seen the first movie, they weren't missing out on anything, or needing to know a back story.  As soon as Beethoven appeared on the screen, they were in love with this cute dog.  Come on, who doesn't love Beethoven?  :-)

As a fan of the original movie, I was happy to see actors my age and older that I grew up watching, filling the roles of the parents and adults in the film, including Kristy Swanson, Jonathan Silverman and Morgan Fairchild.

You will definitely be taken on a whirlwind adventure when you sit down to watch this family-friendly movie.  And, get ready to laugh, as this movie is filled with scenes that will make kids and adults laugh out loud.  What a fun way to spend an evening - a fun movie and quality time with the whole family.

After a doggone disaster of a movie shoot, the big-hearted pooch and his trainer, Eddie (Jonathan Silverman), are heading home when they get stranded in a small coastal village. When Beethoven befriends a local boy (Bretton Manley), he helps him find a pirate map to lost treasure and together they em-bark on an adventure that brings the whole town together.

Now Available to Own on DVD and Blu-ray -- Endless Love -- Perfect for Date Nights In or to Watch with Your Girlfriends -- Review and #Giveaway

Disclosure:  I was sent samples and a screener copy from the vendor in order to write up an honest review.  All views shared are mine and mine alone.

Last week I shared a review of the new release, "Endless Love" from Universal Studios, which hit store shelves this past Tuesday, May 27th.  If you missed it, here is more about the movie, the official movie trailer and my thoughts:

About the Film:

"When beautiful Jade meets charismatic David, her sheltered world of privilege turns upside down when the pair’s instant desire sparks a reckless summer love affair. While Jade leaves behind her inhibitions and innocence to fall for David, he works to prove himself worthy of her love. But when David’s mysterious past and Jade’s overprotective father threaten to tear them apart, their romance will be put to the ultimate test.

Romance is as tragic as it is beautiful: two people together forever, through sun and snow, thick and thin, work and wander. In Endless Love, Jade and David’s romance goes from a relaxed summer fling to an impassioned affair meant to last the test of time, even as David’s dark past and Jade’s grieving father pulls them apart. Jade and David are but one of a long list of forbidden lovers in film history, another embattled couple fighting the odds before the silver screen viewers own teary eyes. "

My Thoughts:

Usually my husband and I will wait until the weekend to watch movies, but this past week we didn't find much on television at night time once the girls went to bed, so we put this movie on last night to watch.  While my husband is not a fan of chick flicks or romance films, he does like a few of the titles I shared above, including "The Notebook," "How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days" and "Slumdog Millionaire."  I had told him that this upcoming release was similar to these titles and he would like it.  So, going on this and not having seen the trailer, he sat down to watch it with me.

At first, he wasn't that interested in the movie, and said, "Not only chick flick, I am out of here."  But, I had him wait a few minutes, and those minutes made all the difference, as he started to get into the movie, and sat through the rest of the film with me.  While the storyline is predictable and slow at times, the acting worked well together and made for a believable couple.  You found yourself hoping that their love would last and that others would except them.  I kept thinking about how this was a present day "Romeo and Juliet," as well as what you would see in today's societies where parents and others fight to keep true love apart.

If you love romantic films that have substance, then you will want to pick up a copy of "Endless Love" when it arrives in stores on 5/27.  I will definitely be watching this movie again -- with my husband and during an upcoming "Girls Night In."  And, I can't wait to hear what you think of it, once you see it.

---

Thanks to the kind folks at Universal Studios Home Entertainment, they sent me a fun viewing pack this past holiday weekend for me to enjoy with a few girlfriends, which includes the new release, "Endless Love" on Blu-ray, as well as nail polish, hair bows, movie CD soundtrack and more.

I was so excited to get my girlfriends together in a while due to our crazy schedules and family commitments.  But, I used the need to hold a screening party to get the girls together, and have our husbands take the kids out for an afternoon. :-)  And, this past Saturday while the kids and hubbies were out at the science center in CT with the kids, a few of my girlfriends and I got together.  We ordered take out from a local bistro restaurant we love, brought the food back to the house, along with a bottle of wine, and settled in to watch this great romantic flick, that follows along the lines of Romeo and Juliet.

In addition to screening the film with my friends, I was also sent nail polish and a gift card to Target to buy munchies.  Because I knew I would be getting take out, I ended up picking up little treats for the girls, to give as goodie bags as they were leaving.  Come on, kids enjoy them at birthday parties, why can't moms enjoy them, too --- just because? :-) I filled a bag with chocolate, notepads, tea and coffee, along with fun summer items that I found in the $1 bin.  The goodie bags were a big surprise and a hit with my friends.  Like me, they usually give gifts to others, never expecting anything in return. So, it was a nice change to receive a goodie bag like this, after a wonderful afternoon spent together, enjoying great food and wine, a movie, conversation and pampering when we painted our nails and caught up.

While I don't get together as often as I would like with my girlfriends, times like these make me cherish their everlasting friendships even more.  We had a blast at my "Endless Love" screening, and have continued to talk about this movie days later.  If you haven't seen this flick, and love romance films, this is definitely one movie worth checking out.  The story line and cast are amazing, and you will be drawn in from the start.

Oh, I wanted to share a few cute photos of Savannah, who wanted to pose with one of the hair bows that I was also sent for my girlfriends and I to enjoy.

They ended up bringing them home for their little girls, and sent me photos.  Maybe next time, we will include our daughters when having a girls day in with movies and pampering.  Savannah felt a little left out when she came home and saw I had painted my nails without her.  So, that night, we had bonding time and painted her hands and feet, while she wore the hair clip. :-)

Top 5 Forbidden Love Film Stories in the Last Decade + The Endless Love Arrives on Blu-Ray and DVD on 5/27 (Review)

Disclosure:  I was sent a screener copy from the vendor in order to write up an honest review.  All views shared are mine and mine alone.

Top 5 Forbidden Love Film Stories in the Last Decade

Bring Home The Endless Love Blu-rayCombo Pack on May 27th, 2014

With the upcoming release of Endless Love, We are going to suggest some movies for your next girls night in for those quiet balmy summer nights.

When beautiful Jade meets charismatic David, her sheltered world of privilege turns upside down when the pair’s instant desire sparks a reckless summer love affair.

Here are five films from the last decade which encapsulate the same forbidden romance vibe of Endless Love.

1.     (500) Days of Summer

Who can forget how Tom battles for the conviction of love while Summer blithely pushes him away in fear of love itself? Certainly not David, who believes in finding true love in the face of great adversity, forging love with beautiful Jade as Tom does with Summer. Tom and David believe in the same things: true love above all. If they were allowed to roam the same movie, we think they’d be friends – friends to the very end, that is.

2.     The Notebook

A film like The Notebook would be unforgettable to a couple like David and Jade – in a lot of ways their story parallels that of The Notebook’sAllie and Noah. The tearjerker’s main couple battle overbearing parents, while poor country boy Noah must fight to win the rich Allie’s love, literally, when he becomes a soldier in WWII. Once you watch Endless Love’s David battle a sabotaged college acceptance, and fight for Jade’s true love, we think he knows Noah’s pain.

3.     Slumdog Millionaire

While Endless Loves Jade and David erupt into love in the face of a brother taken too soon and controlling parents, Slumdog’s Jamal and Latika battle against class, gangsters and the expectations of an entire society as their young love grows up. Like Endless Love’s Jade and David, Slumdog allows the viewer to watch two lovers come of age before our very eyes; two couples unhinging their shackles to find eternal solace in each other.

4.     How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days

Silently a forbidden love film caught in a comedy, Kate Hudson’s Andie and Matthew Mcconaughey’s Ben fall in love despite Andie’s best attempts to ruin the relationship before it begins. In a way, the movie shows love as a kind of obligation, extending beyond work as Andie’s attempts to stay as far out of love with Ben as possible, who must do the opposite makes for enthralling, teary laugher of a romance.

5.     Romeo and Juliet (2013)

This film is a classic adaptation of the star cross lovers – Hailee Steinfeld’s Juliet and Douglas Booth’s Romeo play it straight as their two warring families try to pull them apart, something Jade and David know too well.

The Endless Love Blu-rayCombo Pack is available on May 27th, 2014

My Thoughts:

Usually we wait until the weekend to watch new movies sent to me to review with the girls. But, as soon as the girls saw "The Nut Job" arrive in the mail the other day, they have been asking me off and on each day if we could watch it.  Having not seen it when this movie was in theaters, but hearing from friends and family who did, and how they thought this was a great family movie, I have to say that I was a little anxious to also watch it.  I finally gave in yesterday afternoon, and watched "The Nut Job" with the girls after they napped.  I love how you can bribe your kids to take a nap or eat their lunches with a movie or special treat, don't you? :-)

Like I have shared in past posts about animated movies, I love when popular actors and actresses lend their voices, as it makes it more fun for adults watching these kid-friendly movies.  Stars lending their voices in this cute film included Will Arnett, Liam Neeson, Katherine Hiegl, Brendan Fraser, Gabriel Iglesias and Jeff Dunham.  A great mix of talented voice, right? I sure think so.

With many of the voice talent having a comedic background, you knew you were in for a treat when watching this movie.  From start to finish the girls and I were laughing and smiling along, as we watched Will Arnett's character, Surly the squirrel, try to find and stock up on nuts for the winter.  When he stumbles upon a nut shop with a basement full of nuts, he thinks he has hit jackpot. Surly only likes to think about himself.  So, when he realizes that the nut shop is actually owned by bank robbers who are planning a heist of their own, he has to reach out to those he would otherwise ignore for help in preventing the planned bank heist and save the day.

When you have squirrels, rats, raccoons and other furry  and four legged friends coming out of the woodwork to help, you know you are in for an adventure to say the least.  Kids will laugh at squirrels farting and the jokes being told amongst the characters, and parents will, too. My girls couldn't stop getting up and dancing around during the dance scene and other cute parts throughout the film.

The film is only 85 minutes in length, making it a great length for children of all ages, including young ones to sit through and enjoy, without growing restless.  There is some animated violence where the characters are hitting each other or crashing into things, but nothing that would terrify your kids.

My girls fell in love with Surly and the others, and loves the bright colorful scenes and animation.  And, when they were giggling at the funny comments or mishaps of the characters, I loved how this movie had themed like the importance of friendship, teamwork, treating others with respect and kindness and coming together as a community to tackle a problem, where in this case it was trying to stop the bad guys from robbing the local bank, while also pulling off a massive nut heist of their own.

I can see the girls asking to watch this movie again today, and have it be one that it brought in the car or asked for on movie nights.  And, I will not say "No" as I enjoyed it just as much as they did.  "The Nut Job" is a great family movie that will have you laughing and cheering on Surly and his friends as they try to save the day.  So, if you are looking for a cute movie to share with your family for your next movie night, why not consider picking up a copy of "The Nut Job" when it arrives on Digital HD on April 8th, and in stores on Tuesday, April 15th. I can't wait to hear what you think of it.

In celebration of the upcoming Home Entertainment release of Universal's hit-animated film The Nut Job, here is a special nutty recipe for you and your family to enjoy.

What nut-inspired recipes do you love to make for their families?

Don't forget to pickup your copy of The Nut Job
