Disclosure:  I was sent a review copy from the vendor in exchange for an honest review.  All views shared are mine and mine alone.

JOURNEY BEYOND THE FALLS WITH SHIMMER AND SHINE
TO UNCOVER MAGICAL NEW WORLDS

Do you have a Shimmer and Shine in your life?  If you do, then you will have to check out the new Shimmer and Shine: Beyond the Rainbow Falls DVD, which arrives in stores on February 6th. This DVD would make for a great non-candy Valentine's Day gift for your child.  Both of my girls are huge Shimmer and Shine fans, and love watching this hit animated series on Nickelodeon each day, or on the DVR (I have lost track of how many of this show's episodes they have recorded).  They watch this show so much that I can tell what it is about within the first minute or show.  Not something to brag about, right?  :-)

Here are the full-length episodes that make up this new Shimmer and Shine DVD:

  • Rainbow Zahramay - When all the wishing magic in Zahramay Falls disappears, Princess Samira sends Shimmer, Shine and Leah into Rainbow Zahramay to find Waterfall Genie Imma.
  • The Darpoppy - On a search for the mythical Darpoppy, Zac accidentally wishes himself into the Rainbow Zahramay forest.
  • Hairdos and Don'ts - When Zeta steals Ayla the Hair Genie's magical comb, the genies and Leah must work together to get it back.
  • Flower Power - The girls wish themselves into sprites to help Minu, a magical flower sprite, recover a special Genie Gem.
  • All That Glitters - When Zeta takes Glitter Genie Afina's magical staff, Shimmer, Shine and Leah must work together to get it back.
  • Waterbent - Zeta needs to be rescued when she steals Imma's magical staff and accidentally creates a powerful whirlpool.
  • Whatever Floats Your Boat - When playful Zenguins snag Leah's wishing coin, the girls must track it down so that she can make a wish everyone will enjoy.
Even though my girls have already seen these already aired episodes, they were excited to watch them again.  Each and every episode was a favorite of theirs and full of magic and adventure.  I could go on and on about how much my girls love this new DVD, but if you have a Shimmer and Shine fan in your life, then you already know how great this show is. :-)

Pre-Order Shimmer and Shine: Friendship Divine Today -- Arrives on DVD February 7th (Review)

Disclosure: I was sent a screener copy from the vendor in order to write up an honest review. All views shared are mine and mine alone.

NEW FRIENDS AND MAGICAL ADVENTURES AWAIT THE
WISH-GRANTING GENIES IN AN ALL-NEW DVD COLLECTION

Shimmer and Shine: Friendship Divine

Pre-order now on DVD from Amazon for only $9.99

Out of all the shows my girls watch, I have to say that this one has the catchiest theme song, and has the girls moving and jumping about from the start of the episode, all the way through, and usually long after.  Why?  Well, if you haven't seen an episode of this popular animated series, which airs daily on Nick Jr., then you are missing out...my girls' words! :-)

This show follows two genies in training, Shimmer and Shine.  They are the magical genies for a little girl called Leah, who when she rubs her pendant necklace summons her genie friends.  They arrive and this puts the whole story into motion with a fun adventure, which includes a few mishaps along the way, due to the genies not understanding Leah's three wishes she requests.  But, the best part of these wish blunders is that the genies and Leah work together to make things right.  And, each and every time the adventure or predicament they are in works itself out thanks to team work and perseverance. :-)

This is the third DVD release for this popular series, and I know it will not be the last, as I see this being a popular series for years to come.  Even though it is geared towards the preschool age group, my girls who are 5 and 6.5, along with their friends who are 5-8 years old, can't get enough of Shimmer and Shine.  This past Christmas Santa filled all the girls' Shimmer and Shine toy and dress up wishes.  So, now whenever they get ready to watch Shimmer and Shine on Nickelodeon, they are usually dressed head to toe in their their favorite genies in training costumes.  Or, they are toting around the many dolls and figures they have collected.

If you have a Shimmer and Shine fan in your life, you will definitely want to pre-order a copy of the new Shimmer and Shine: Friendship Divine which arrives in stores on Feb. 7th.  This would be a perfect non-candy gift to give that special Shimmer and Shine fan in your life. :-)

Here is more about this upcoming DVD release from the folks at Nickelodeon...

My Thoughts:

This was one DVD my girls had been hoping I would get for review, as they are huge Shimmer and Shine fans.  If you have young children who watch Nick Jr., then you have probably sat for an episode (or more) of Shimmer and Shine.  This popular animated series follows two genie sisters in training, Shimmer and Shine.  A young girl, Leah, is the human that these two genies are assigned, and make her wishes come true.  But, like I said, these genies are learning, so you should expect some (or most) wishes to be carried out wrong. The genies learn from their mistakes and never give up, and I love the theme of friendship as well in this series.

When my girls saw this DVD arrive in the mail, they couldn't wait to watch it.  Even though they have already seen the three episodes that make up this new release, they were ready to watch them again for the upteenth time. :-)   This is one of those shows that the girls could watch an episode over and over without getting bored, as it such an interesting and fun show.

Here are the episodes that you will find on this new DVD release, available in stores and online today...

Shimmer and Shine: Welcome to Zahramay Falls includes the following episodes:
  • Welcome to Zahramay Falls - Shimmer and Shine receive a special Green Burst Gem from Princess Samira and bring it into the human world. The evil sorceress Zeta uses magic to steal the gem, but her spell goes awry and pulls Leah and Zac intoZahramay Falls.
  • First Wish (Double Episode) - Leah wins a genie bottle pendant at a carnival and is surprised to find that her prize comes with a bonus - Shimmer and Shine.  Leah wishes for a polka-dotted elephant and things get complicated when Leah uses her remaining wishes to keep Zac from seeing the elephant. In the end, the girls create a new carnival attraction and learn that they can overcome any obstacle by working together.
  • Happy Wishaversary - It's time for Shimmer, Shine and Leah to celebrate their Wishaversary! In honor of their Wishaversary, Shimmer and Shine make Leah the perfect gift-a bracelet with a magical touch. When Leah puts the bracelet on, she can float like a genie. However, when Zac shows up to play a video game with Leah, Rocket gets a hold of the bracelet and starts to float. Leah must play the video game with Zac, while also working with the genies to retrieve the magical bracelet before Zac sees Rocket floating away.
My girls are already putting together their wish lists for Santa and Shimmer and Shine toys and clothes are top on their list.  I see this DVD being a great stocking stuffer idea.  It would even make a great back-to-school movie night.  This is one DVD that every Shimmer and Shine fan will want to have, especially for the popular Welcome to Zahramay Falls episode.  This was one episode that had my girls' eyes glued to the screen, and one they talked about with their friends for days later.

My Thoughts:

Even though Shimmer and Shine launched on the Nick Jr. channel last August, it was only recently that my girls stumbled upon it.  Instead of recording an episode of Little Charmers (another Nick Jr. favorite of theirs), our DVR recorded an episode of Shimmer and Shine.  As soon as the theme song began playing, the girls were glued to the television. I can see why this new preschool series has become a hit with young girls.  After the first commercial, the girls quickly ran into the kitchen and asked me to start recording this new show, as they loved it.  I came in and sat down to watch the show with them to see what it was all about and have to say I was impressed.

Here is more about Shimmer and Shine, two genies in training from the magical world of Zahramay Falls, which airs daily on Nickelodeon...

About Shimmer and Shine:

Boom Zahramay! Get to know Shimmer and Shine, twin genies-in -training who can't wait to make your preschooler's wishes come true.

Twin sisters Shimmer and Shine are Leah's secret genies-in-training! Leah always has some dilemma that she needs her magical friends' help with, and the genies are happy to grant her three wishes a day.  As genies-in-training, they sometimes misinterpret what Leah wishes for, and often times they'll accidentally grant her wishes she didn't even mean to make. Each wrong wish quickly compounds into a crazy adventure. Ultimately, through teamwork, the genies and Leah find a way to fix the problem without the use of wishes.
Shimmer and Shine airs on Nickelodeon, weekdays at 11:30am ET/PT.
Shimmer and Shine includes the following episodes:
  • Genie Treehouse - Leah and Zac try building a treehouse but find themselves in over their heads. Leah asks her genies for a treehouse and is thrown for a loop when Shimmer and Shine turn her house into a house of trees.
  • Ahoy, Genies! - When Leah's bucket full of beach treasures floats into the vast ocean, Leah summons Shimmer and Shine to help her retrieve the loot. With the genies' assistance, a typical day at the beach quickly escalates into a magical beach treasure hunt, complete with a treasure map, pirate ship, and a talking parrot.
  • The Sweetest Thing - When Leah wishes for help making cupcakes for her school bake sale, she and the genies find themselves stuck with a giant birthday cake, some farm animals and a river of cupcake batter. How in the world will Leah finish her cupcakes without any wishes left, or worse, explain all this craziness to her curious (and hungry) neighbor Zac?
  • Lights! Camera! Genies! - When it looks like Movie Night will be a no-go, Leah asks Shimmer and Shine for some movie magic help. But when they accidentally wish the movie to life, they turn Leah into a medieval princess with a flying dragon to tame in her own backyard.
  • What a Pig Mess - When Leah's party food accidentally gets run over by Zac in his battery-operated car, Leah needs to figure out what else to bring fast. Leah asks her genies for more Pigs in a Blanket, but the genies give her real pigs wrapped in a blanket. It's up to Leah and the girls to catch the fast little pigs and find a way to fix this hog-sized mistake.
  • Abraca-Genie - Leah notices Zac the Magician's magic tricks aren't going quite so well, so she calls on her genies for some real magic assistance. But Shimmer and Shine aren't getting the tricks right either and suddenly more than a rabbit pops out of Zac's hat - a whole zoo of animals. The girls have to find a way to fix the magical mess before Zac's big performance.
  • Dino Mite! - After searching endlessly for Zac's missing dinosaur toy, Leah asks her genies to wish up a replacement and gets stuck with a real live Apatosaurus. Now Leah, Shimmer and Shine have to figure out a way to fix this behemoth mistake before Zac finds out - and it all starts with a little bit of dino training.
---

What also caught the attention of my girls besides these two genies is the pets.  Tala the monkey and Nahal the Bengal tiger cub make each episode of Shimmer and Shine extra magical.

And, just like other preschool shows on Nickelodeon this series has really got my girls excited about the show.  Each and every day like clock work, the girls put a bunch of pillows and blankets on the living room floor, to pretend it is their magic carpet.  Then, they are read to watch the show.  I can't tell you how many times the girls will pause or replay a scene when they are watching an episode.  And, whenever the catchy songs from the series start, my girls will sing along, raising their voices to try and out sing each other. :-)

As a parent I love this educational series for the lessons it shares through their fun and captivating episodes.  Preschoolers will learn about patience, friendship, family, perseverance and so much more, as they watch the magical ways these two genies in training teach these lessons, while going on fun adventures and granting wishes.

If you have a preschooler who is a fan of the Shimmer and Shine series, you will definitely want to pick up this DVD when it hits store shelves tomorrow.  Or, if you have been looking for a fun new series to share with your preschooler that is not only fun to watch, but also educational, then you will want to check out Shimmer and Shine.  My girls, while they only recently became fans of this popular series, have already watched all the episodes thanks to the Nick Jr. app on Roku, and can talk your ear off about the show...that is...when they are not acting out scenes or singing the theme song at home and in the car. :-)

--GIVEAWAY--
