Remember me sharing about how my girls and I have been sick with an upper respiratory infection, ear infection and then bronchitis? Well, I can finally report that we are all feeling 100%. It was a long time coming -- actually 3 1/2 weeks since it hit us and left us laid up and housebound. During this time, date nights were not even considered. My husband and I have been trying to make at least one night a week to spend together and catch, as we have found that with our busy schedules, our "we time" had been obsolete. We had plans to go to a movie and out for dinner one week, and then attend game night at a friend's house the following week. But, with me being sick, along with being exhausted from being up most nights, we decided to have an in-house date night last week, where we waited for the girls to go to bed before we had dinner and watched a movie. Our lucky...it wasn't until 9:00PM that the girls finally fell asleep. Because of this, we were limited in what we could make or order out. The one thing that stinks about living in our part of CT is that we don't have many restaurants to choose from. Yes, we have a handful of fast food places, but oh how I wish we had a good Italian restaurant or steakhouse. Luckily, I had the opportunity to do food shopping the day before when my dad came down to help watch the girls, after I took them for a follow-up doctor's appointment. I ended up picking up two new frozen pizzas from DIGIORNO® -- which is our frozen pizza brand of choice -- their pizzeria! from DIGIORNO® Quattro Formaggio/Four Cheese and pizzeria! from DIGIORNO® Primo Pepperoni. Have you heard about or seen these new pizzas at your local supermarket? If not, and you love grabbing a frozen pizza to cook up at home, especially for date night with your sweetie, you will want to check out the new pizzeria! pizzas from DIGIORNO®.
"The new pizzeria! from DIGIORNO® is an entirely new frozen pizza experience inspired by the great taste of pizzeria pizzas. These delicious pizzas feature only the highest quality ingredients, no artificial flavors and a preservative-free crust. The new pizzeria! from DIGIORNO® starts with a really amazing crust that's golden crispy on the outside, soft and airy on the inside and drizzled with extra virgin olive oil. The crust is topped with a new flavorful sauce made with vine-ripened tomatoes, garlic and herbs -- then finished off with premium quality meats, cheeses and vegetables. This remarkable pizza offers the flavor and texture of true pizzeria-style pizza fresh baked right in your own oven." Currently, there are four flavors available in the new pizzeria! from DIGIORNO® and include:
Like I said, I had picked up the pizzeria! from DIGIORNO® Quattro Formaggi/Four Cheese and pizzeria! from DIGIORNO® Primo Pepperoni to cook up. The suggested serving size for one pizza is 4 servings, so we ended up just making the DIGIORNO® Quattro Formaggi/Four Cheese the other night. Being a busy mom on the go, I am familiar with frozen pizzas, and have had some hits and misses when it comes to frozen pizzas available for at-home baking. But, after trying and loving DIGIORNO® a few years back, we haven't bought any other brands. My entire family loves the soft, delicious self-rising crusts and cheese stuffed crust pizzas from this brand -- that was until my husband and I recently tried the new pizzeria! pizza. Wow!
Not only did this pizza taste great, I couldn't get over it reminded me a true pizzeria pizza. It is has been so long since my husband and I have been able to dine out (without the kids) and enjoy a tasty hand tossed pizzeria pizza. But, after taking the first bite, we both turned to each other and said how yummy this pizza was, and how much we loved the preservative free crust, which had been drizzled with extra virgin olive oil -- something you don't usually see with other frozen pizzas on the market. I would love to know how DIGIORNO® made the crust crispy on the outside and soft and airy on the inside. It was a win-win for both my husband and I, as he loves his pizza crust crispy, while I love a soft crust. And, if the crust didn't WOW us enough, we were blown away at how tasty the pizza sauce was. Made with vine-ripened tomatoes and a variety of herbs, the pizza had just enough sauce to make for a flavorful pizza.
Don't get me started on the bubbly four cheeses that cooked up beautifully and evenly in under 20 minutes. The combination of mozzarella, fontina, parmesan and pecorino romano cheese really worked great together, and added to the pizzeria pizza taste and feel of this new frozen pizza from DIGIORNO®. My husband and I are counting the days until next Friday, when we plan to cook up the pizzeria! from DIGIORNO® Primo Pepperoni pizza. After having tried the Quattro Formaggi pizzeria! pizza, and seeing the use of only the highest quality ingredients that go into making these new frozen pizzas, we know we are in for a tasty treat!
So, skip calling out for pizza come date night with your sweetie, or for your next "Girls Night In" and pick up one or all four of the new pizzeria! from DIGIORNO® frozen pizzas to cook up in less than 20 minutes and enjoy. You will amazed at how a frozen pizza can taste just light a true freshly baked pizzeria-style pizza. Thanks to DIGIORNO® they make bringing this quality pizza into your home and onto your table in no time -- with little or no clean up (as there is usually no leftovers). :-) Keep an eye out for these new pizzeria! frozen pizzas from DIGIORNO® the next time you do your food shopping. With the hot summer weather here, choose a frozen pizza instead of hours in the kitchen prepping, cooking and cleaning up your family's dinner. :-)

My Thoughts: Last week I shared how I had friends over and shared a new diet I was on -- "The Fast Metabolism Diet," which states that you could love up to 20 pounds in 28 days by following a three phase plan.
And, last week I found out about the Fast Metabolism Diet companion app, now available through iTunes for the iPhone and iPad, that is a great to help keep you on track, and help you succeed with your weight loss goals. The app offers a great food lists, making shopping for foods for this diet that much easier. And, it doesn't stop there.
The app also helps you keep track of your exercise regime, and let's you check off things as you complete them. I don't know about you, but I work better with lists. And, when I am able to cross things off and see progress, I feel like I am accomplishing things daily. Need reminders or tips, this app has you covered with these features, too. One of the things that Haylie Pomroy tells you to do, as part of her diet is to drink your body weight in ounces each and every day. Let's just say that I am drinking a lot of water, and making stops to the bathroom a lot. I use this app to remind me to drink the water, as I feel this is one of the reasons I am able to lose weight, even though I can't commit to the full 3 phase plan. I am getting full off of water (when I can drink all those ounces daily), and don't find myself snacking between my meals, which are now every 3-4 hours.
Like I explained last week, I have found it hard to stick with the complete "Fast Metabolism Diet" as I can't commit to the daily meals, which you have to follow to a "T" to see real results. But, I have seen an improvement in my overall energy level since beginning this diet and have learned some great tips and healthy recipes (that the whole family can enjoy), and have already lost 7 pounds in 20 days. Not bad I think, as I never see this much weight lost with a single diet plan ever. Unlike
other diets, Haylie asks you to eat a lot -- 3 full meals a day, along
with at least 2 snacks. The best part -- there is no calorie counting
no weird fad foods, or the need to deprive yourself of food. The Fast
Metabolism Diet is made up of three phases: Phase 1: Monday-Tuesday -- Eat lots of carbs and fruits Phase 2: Wed.-Thursday -- Eat lots of proteins and veggies Phase 3: Friday - Sunday -- Eat all of the above, plus add healthy fats and oils
Not
sure where to start with foods? Don't worry as this book is filled
with great tips and recipes, making it an easy diet to follow. In
addition to the 3 phases, this book also covers do's and don'ts like no
alcohol or caffeine (I still haven't been able to give up the coffee and
soda, two of my weaknesses), as well as using organic foods and nitrate
free meats in your diet. Another hard "do" for me is to eat within 30
minutes of waking. With two little ones, my days (especially my
mornings) are unpredictable. There are times that I don't get a shower
in until mid afternoon, and breakfast, lunch?....where did those meals
go? The girls keep me going and going, that I find myself missing these
crucial meals some days, and then looking for foods to snack on.
And,
like any diet, you have to be committed and follow it to a "T." This
is on one of the problems I face when trying to commit 28 days to it, as
I know with my mommy schedule right now, that there may be days that I
will not be able to eat first thing in the AM, that I will not want to
make smoothies or other meals because of time constraints, or heck, I
may even want a glass of wine after dinner to unwind. If I want to lose
up to 20 pounds in 28 days, I have to be committed. Would you be able
to commit? Even though I can't do a full 28 days, I have been
incorporating some of the phases and recipes into my current diet
regime, and have seen 3-4 pounds in less than 2 weeks. Are you planning to try out "The Fast Metabolism Diet" by Haylie Pomroy? If so, I would suggest reading through her book first to get yourself familiarized with the diet and changes that you need to make to your diet and way of life (ie. say goodbye to caffeine-- coffee and soda -- my two weaknesses) and get ready to drink a lot of water. Some of the recipes also call for ingredients that you will only find at a specialty or health and wellness store -- so plan accordingly, and don't start the weekly menus until you have all the ingredients you need.
And, for only $1.99, you should really download the companion app here, as it helps as a great reminder tool for each aspect of the 3 phase diet, and is a great tracking tool. While I don't plan to commit fully to the 3 phase diet plan, I will still drink the water, limit my caffeine intake, and make a handful of the meals from each phase -- which I am surprised that the girls enjoy. My husband, on the other hand, has been able to follow the diet more strictly, as he doesn't have energetic toddlers with him for breakfast and lunch, making him choose to snack over eating the spelled out meals. As a result, he has lost 12 pounds in 20 days. He, too, loves how he feels, as he wakes up with more energy, and doesn't find himself reaching for snacks throughout the day. When he does get hungry, he will drink more water, to curve his appetite and fill himself up. We still have 8 more days, so I am hoping I will see a few more pounds being shed. It would be nice to say that I lost 10 pounds in 28 pounds, thanks to Haylie Pomroy's new diet, "The Fast Metabolism Diet" If you struggle with weight loss, or are trying to loss the weight you gained over the weekend, in time for bathing suit season, why not pick up a copy of "The Fast Metabolism Diet" and give this diet 28 days? I would love to hear how you do on this diet, and what your thoughts are on it, so please feel free to comment below. :-)
And, good luck with the weight loss. :-) If I can do is (slowly), so can you!

Does
your family remember to recycle at home? Are you conscious about
anything that goes in the trash? Is your child the one who reminds you
to turn the lights off, or the other way around? In other words, are you
a Conserve-it-All? (or do you wish you were?) With Earth Day right around the corner, why not take the challenge along with me, other bloggers, and the folks at SheSpeaks and P&G, as part of the P&G Conserve-it-All Program?
About P&G Everyday Effect "Many people think their everyday actions are ordinary, and that the
things they do every day can’t make a difference to help the
environment. P&G believes the most effective changes don’t
necessarily start with grand acts and can start much closer to home, by
changing the way we think about things like waste.
Seemingly ordinary actions - like washing your laundry in lower
temperatures, doing the dishes with concentrated products or changing a
diaper that uses thinner materials – can be a surprising help to the
world we share... allowing us all to reduce waste."
----
Recently, I shared some great Earth Day activities that you and your family enjoy outdoors. If you missed my post, click here to read it now --http://www.inspiredbysavannah.com/2013/03/fun-earth-day-activities-whole-family.html. After talking with my husband the other day about how we as a family can reduce waste in our house, we came up with some great activities that would include the girls. Savannah and Arabella are at the ages that they like to do hands-on activities, so we wanted to find a fun challenge that would not include them, but also teach them about reducing waste. And, to help remind them to continue to do these activities daily, we created a chart that will track their progress during the month of April. At the end of each day, if they complete a particular activity/task, then they will get a sticker. Then, at the end of the month, we will celebrate by planting a mini vegetable garden with plants they choose at the local nursery. That way, we can continue our Earth-friendly activities well into the summer. :-) So, what will we be doing this month to help educate the girls about reducing waste in our home? Here are just some of the fun activities:
1) Recycle -- We have started teaching the girls about recycling, and turned filling the recycling bin into a game with Savannah. Whenever we are done with plastic jugs, cans, etc., I will ask here first if the item can be recycled, and then which bin does it go in. We have a bin for newspaper/paper, another for plastic bottles, one for glass, and another for cans. She has a blast helping us put the recyclable items into the correct bins. And, come trash day, it is a breeze to put out all the bins. Before, we were finding ourselves putting everything in one large bin, and then having to organize the items the night before. Now, we are saving time in not having to organize the bins to be put out, and Savannah is learning about recycling, and doing her part to help the environment. :-)
2) Reuse -- Each day before we through things out, we will see if we can come up with create ways to use the items. The girls love crafts, so this will be a fun way to use things like egg carton, paper plates, tissue paper, bubble wrap, etc. that we usually toss, and reuse it to create fun, textures art projects. Since starting to reuse items, we have make some pretty cool art projects, including a Fruit Loops rainbow and used cut up kitchen sponges to create fun sponge art cards and posters to display on the refrigerator, and give to Nana and Papa to enjoy. And, with Easter a few weekends ago, we had empty egg cartons we have used to sort items by color, size, etc., as well as created a window garden for Savannah and Arabella to plant some starter seeds for their gardens. :-) Here are some other great egg garden crafts from around the web -- http://innerchildfun.com/2011/07/around-the-web-made-from-egg-cartons.html.
3) Reduce -- We used to go through a lot of paper water bottles each week, as the girls only drink water and milk, and my husband and I use it instead of the well water to make our morning coffees and teas. Just last week, I called a local spring water delivery service and are now having them delivery 3-gallon jugs to us. So, instead of going through a couple 24 packs of water bottles each week, we simply have to pump from the 3-gallon jugs when we want water, and when the jug is empty the local spring water delivery service will pick up the jugs and replace them with new filled jugs. Instead, we will re-use jugs through this delivery service, cutting down the waste or collection of water bottles we used to accumulate weekly.
4) Create a compost pile -- We will also begin to save the scraps from meals and add to a compost pile we will start in the back yard. This will also cut down up the number of trash bags we fill on a weekly basis, and eventually let us use this compost for our gardens.
The compost will add nutrients to our soil, making our plants grow better. :-)
5) Shut off lights and unplug gadgets, toys, etc.when not in use. I don't know about you, but my girls love to turn on and off lights every chance they get. And, half the time, they forget to turn them off, and leave the room. I only stumble upon the lights on when I go to put things away. So, this has been a great way to get them to pay more attention to their energy usage, and make sure they shut off lights when they leave a room, especially the playroom and their bedrooms. And, my husband and I are doing our part, by unplugging appliances and gadgets when not in use. I can't tell you how many times my husband would leave the cell phone or iPad chargers plugged in, without the devices actually being charged. He just thought it was convenient to have the cord ready and waiting. Now, we make a point to unplug these items when not in use, thus cutting down on energy usage in the house.
I am so excited to be taking part in the P&G Conserve-it All Program with my family, and love coming up with fun ways that my family can help reduce waste in our house. Why not consider taking part this April, in celebration of Earth Day? What ways can you think of that you and your family can reduce waste? First, start by rallying your family together and getting them excited about waste reduction, and then choose your challenge. "How will you to work with your family to
reduce, reuse and/or recycle in your home? Set a realistic goal and
involve your whole family to make it happen. Every household can and
should experience the everyday effect of reducing waste! How will you
turn your home into a conservation powerhouse?" I would love to hear what great ideas you have come up with, by sharing them below in the comments sections. Also, share your fun projects through Twitter by using the program hashtag: #everydayeffect. And, make sure you have fun in the process! :-) We are having a blast, and love how we are teaching the girls at such a young age about waste reduction and helping to protect the planet.

My Thoughts about Torani Syrups: I have been buying an using Torani Syrups for the past few years, and love how they now come in regular and sugar-free versions. Whenever family and friends come for parties and get togethers, they know I will have a sampling of Torani Syrups on hand. These flavored syrups, if you are not familiar with them, can be used to add a new dimension to hot and cold beverages, to create new drinks, as well as incorporated into some of your favorite recipes. With the holidays fast approaching, I have already begun stocking up on popular Torani Syrups that have been hits in years past, including hazelnut, french vanilla, gingerbread and pumpkin pie. And, just the other day, I was sent a package from SheSpeaks, as I was selected to take part in their campaign to promote the Torani Holiday Cheers Contest. Included inthe packages was a 750 ml bottle of sugar free pumpkin pie Torani Syrup and a 750 ml bottle of regular hazelnut syrup. I then headed to the Torani website and printed off a few recipes from their recipe section to try out with these samples. Here are two recipes that caught my eye: Tiramisu INGREDIENTS:
1 Tbsp. Torani Tiramisu syrup + 4 Tbsp. Torani Hazelnut syrup
4 large eggs, separated + 1/2 cup brandy, less 1 Tbsp
1 lb Mascarpone cheese + 1/2 cup granulated sugar
2-3 oz. packs ladyfingers
2 shots strong espresso, cooled or 2 1/2 tablespoons instant coffee dissolved in 1/2 cup boiling water
3-1 oz. squares bittersweet chocolate, grated
Un-sweetened cocoa powder for dusting
INSTRUCTIONS:
Add
brandy to egg yolks and blend well. Add mascarpone cheese and blend
until smooth. Blend in the Torani Tiramisu syrup. Whip the egg whites
until frothy, gradually adding the sugar. Continue beating until stiff.
Fold egg white mixture into cheese mixture and blend gent. Arrange
half the ladyfingers flat side down in an 11\" x 7\" x 2\" baking dish.
Blend coffee with Torani Hazelnut syrup. Brush the ladyfingers with a
pastry brush dipped in the coffee mixture (don't saturate the
ladyfingers) Pour half the cheese mixture over the ladyfingers and
sprinkle with half of the grated chocolate. Repeat with remaining
ladyfingers, moistening with the coffee mixture. Add remaining cheese
mixture and sprinkle with the rest of the grated chocolate. Dust with
sifted un-sweetened cocoa powder Refrigerate 4 to 6 hours or overnight.
INGREDIENTS:
1 oz. Torani Sugar Free Dark Chocolate Sauce
1/2 oz. Torani Sugar Free Pumpkin Pie Syrup
8 oz. milk
INSTRUCTIONS:
Steam milk and Torani together. Pour into a tall glass and stir gently. After my husband got home and we had dinner, I headed into the kitchen to try out these recipes while he played with the girls. I love trying out new recipes and sharing my creations with family and friends. And, with Thanksgiving a couple of days away, I thought what better way to share my love for baking and Torani syrups, than by showcasing a few new recipes, in addition to having these samples and other bottles of Torani syrups on hand for guests to add flavor to their drinks? Once I was done baking the tiramisuand making the pumpkin pie hot chocolate wash it down, I couldn't wait to try them with my husband. We both enjoyed them, and there were no leftovers. I guess I will be adding these recipes to my Thanksgiving dessert menu. If you are looking for a fun and easy way to spice up your drinks, or like to try new recipes, then head on over to Torani and browse their extensive recipe selection. Then, head to your local retailer to pick up a couple of bottles of Torani Syrups to have on hand. I can't wait to hear which recipes you try and how how you incorporate Torani in your drinks, etc. So, please share!!! :-) And, make sure to enter your unique Torani inspired recipes in their Torani Holiday Cheers Contest to win some great prizes!!!

SheSpeaks has teamed up with Arbor Mist
to give your end of summer an extra kick of fun – what better way to do that
than with a cool drink! As part of their blogger campaign, I was chosen to sample Arbor Mist's new line of Frozen Wine Cocktails, which offer the same great taste of their popular wines with a splash of fruit, frozen. Yum!
Just the other night, I had a fun girls night in, where I had a few of my girlfriends, who also have young children, over for drinks and to watch a movie and chat. Usually I try out new cocktails with them, but this time I surprised them with frozen wine cocktails. Now, I have tried other frozen cocktails in the past, but none tasted as good as Arbor Mist's. And, they were so easy to prepare. Unlike other brands where you have too add ice and blend, or add ice and shake up, with Arbor Mist's Frozen Wine Cocktails, all I had to do was place the individual serving size pouches in the freezer for at least 5 hours to chill. Then, when I was ready to serve up these fruity frozen cocktails, I simply took the 10 ounce pouches out of the freezer, massages them gently, and then tore open the top, squeezed the contents into a glass, and they were ready to be enjoyed. Each of these smooth frozen wine cocktails have the same great taste and alcohol level as
Arbor Mist Wines.
Arbor Mist Frozen Wine Cocktails come in the 3 flavors: White pear pinot grigio, blackberry merlot and strawberry white zinfandel
It was hard choosing a favorite, as they each tasted so good. But, when I asked my girlfriends, they all agreed that the strawberry white zinfandel was their favorite, as it offered just the right amount of fruitiness for a frozen cocktail. One friend, however, thought the blackberry merlot frozen cocktail was too sugary for her taste. But, other than that, we had a great girls night in with frozen cocktails, thanks to Arbor Mist and SheSpeaks. And, with our Labor Day cookout right around the corner, I know what I will have on hand for guests. :-)

My Thoughts:
I downloaded this app earlier today, and can't stop using it. With Savannah's birthday party on Sunday, I have been putting together last minute party supply lists, as well as my food shopping list for the cookout. We will be holding the party at my parents house, so I have been on the phone with them constantly, going over what we have each bought, and need to get. If only I had known about this app a few weeks ago -- it would have made this party planning experience so much easier.
In a matter of minutes tonight, I was able to create a shopping list and share it with my parents, letting them know what I was buying, and what they could go and pick up. Before heading to my local grocery store, I was able to see if they sold a particular Carvel ice cream cake I saw in a magazine in my area. Unfortunately, they don't, but Market Basket and Hannaford's near my parents' house do, so they will be heading up their tomorrow to pick up a cake. Whew, how is that for convenience? Before this app, I would have driven to a handful of stores, searching for this particular Carvel ice cream cake, only to come home empty handed and stressed out. But, with this app, I was able to check product availability in a matter of minutes, and know where I could pick it up, saving me on time, gas and travel time.
Tomorrow, I will be heading to the market, and can't wait to try out the food allergen feature available on this app. This will save me time in trying to read through the small print on the food labels, making sure my family can eat certain foods. If you have gluten, nut or other food allergies, this feature will truly be a lifesaver. All you have to do is scan the product bar code and the ingredients right on your phone, making it easy to read, and keying in on important food allergens.
As a busy mom on the go, I love how RedLaser has simplified my shopping, making it easy to find what I need, when I need it and, all while saving me money, as I can compare pricing and purchase from a retailer who is offering it for less. Gone are the days of spending hours online doing price comparisons, only to be disappointed when I arrive to a store, and find out they are out of stock. With RedLaser, you are provided real time inventory updates and up-to-date pricing for both online and local retailers -- so, no need to double check before you leave the house or place an online order. And, I am loving the buy now feature, where you can pay using your Paypal account, and then choose to pick up at a local retailer. Just this evening, I ordered my daughter's formula from Toys R Us, paid for it, and will be picking up tomorrow AM, along with a few last minute birthday gifts I found while going through my parenting magazines.
I am loving the convenience of Red Laser, and all its features. So, what are you waiting for? If you have an iPhone, Android Phone or Windows Phone, you can download the FREE Red Laser app, by clicking here: http://redlaser.com/application.

My Thoughts:
With summer fast approaching, I signed up at StyleUnited to check out their customized beauty and fashion content, to help me choice styles that are in for 2012. As a busy mom to two children under the age of 2, I don't have the time like I used to and flip through style magazines and spend hours out shopping for clothes. Instead, I find it quicker and easier to visit style sites like StyleUnited for tips, tricks and recommendations. Then, I order clothing, accessories and healthy and beauty products online, to save me time. Hehehe, usually this is done in the wee hours of the morning. No need to worry about lines or lugging around items to the cash register.
Singe registering, I completed the Style 360 quiz, and found out a lot about my individual needs as they relate to skin care, hare care and fashion. Based on these results, I have changed my daily skin care regime and love the results I am seeing. In addition, I am loving the tips and trends section, which gives you useful information, as well as offers videos, for those who like see things explained rather than read. I was able to find the best haircut for my face, as well as if I really needed to wash my hair daily, all from this section. If only I had more time in the time to spend on this site. Believe me, you can get lost in all this great information and lose track of time. I found myself going to bed at 4 AM a few nights ago, as I couldn't stop browsing the StyleUnited site.
So, if you love reading beauty and fashion Content - including hundreds of curated
