Welcome in Fall with a Good Book -- "The Cow Said Neigh! A Farm Story," by Rory Feek Will Have Kids and Adults Giggling as They Read About This Farm Full of Chaos (Review)

Disclosure: I was sent a review copy from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. All views shared are mine and mine alone.

I have been a fan of Rory Feek, since I saw him and his late wife, Joey, who has since pasted from cancer, sing together on the stage, as part of the Can You Duet country singing competition.  I, then, followed their music career and found that Rory has been writing music and even penned books, including his tribute to his wife's amazing life, which was also turned into a heartwarming movie, "To Joey, with Love."  So, when I heard last month that Rory was coming out with a children's book, I had to get my hands on a copy, to share with my girls. He is such an amazing writer, and has a young daughter with downs syndrome, who is just the most precious thing, and I know that he had his daughter, Indiana (named after the state Joey Feek was from) in mind when he wrote this fun children's book.

Here is more about the new children's book, "The Cow Said Neigh! A Farm Story,"available now from Tommy Nelson...

"From New York Times bestseller Rory Feek, one half of the singing duo Joey+Rory, comes The Cow Said Neigh!, a fun and humorous tale of farm animals who wish they were like the other animals . . . which leads to a farm-full of confusion! This delightful book will be a family favorite for years to come.

The Cow Said Neigh! is the story of some peculiar farm animals who wish they were like other animals on the farm. The cow wants to run free like a horse, the sheep wants a snout like a pig, the dog wants to be inside like the cat. Soon the entire farm is in chaos!

With silly farm animal sounds, clever rhymes, and adorable art, The Cow Said Neigh! will have kids of all ages laughing out loud as they celebrate the unique strengths in each of us.

This delightful picture book is sure to be read time and time again."

I couldn't help but smile when I opened to the first page and saw that Rory dedicated this book to his daughter, Indiana.  Then, I settled in on the couch to read this book with my girls.  This really was a fun book that had the girls and I laughing as we flipped through the pages to see what animal was next and what sound they would make.

As you can see from the book synopsis above, this cute children's book is all about animals on a farm who wish they were like another animal.  They think their life would be better if they were different, and that leads them to let out sounds not their own, but of the animal they wished they could be.  Imagine walking along on a farm and hearing a dog meowing, a cat saying "Hello," or a duck saying baa.  Then you go up to the farmer to see what is going on and he lets out a "moo."  The story starts with a cow wanting to be a like a horse, and ends with the farmer letting out a moo.  It is cute how Rory brought the story full-circle with the animal sounds, on what would definitely be a crazy farm to visit.

My girls really enjoyed this book, and loved pretended to be the different farm animals and lending their voices to made the sounds of each.  And, when we were done reading the story, they were quick to ask to read it again, which we did, as it a quick read. Then, we talked about the story and what animal the girls would want to be if they were able to be like a farm animal, and why.  My youngest wanted to be like a pig as she said they always have fun rolling around in the mud and never needing a bath.  :-)  While my oldest said she would love to be horse as they get to roam the green pastures taking in the breathtaking views on a farm.  She said it would be fun to be able to gallop around and then race to the top of a hill and watch the sun set, before coming back to the barn to rest in her stall.  I say those are two good answers. :-)

If you are looking for a fun book to share with your child, especially at bedtime, then you will definitely want to check out The Cow Said Neigh! A Farm Story, available now from Tommy Nelson.
