BLAZE IS BACK ON THE TRACK WITH FOUR EXCITING
S.T.E.M AND DINO-THEMED ADVENTURES
It wasn't until I started homeschooling my girls last year that I really took a look at the shows they watched as well as others airing on popular kid-friendly channels, to see how they could be incorporated into my lesson plans and themed weeks. As I started to put together my weekly lessons, I found myself always looking to Blaze and the Monster Machines, as this popular series on Nickelodeon is filled with STEM adventures, that both boys and girls will enjoy.
When my girls first sat to watch this show, they didn't think they would be into it as it looked like a boys show. But, within the first few minutes, they were hooked. And, from that point on they have been Blaze fans. I love hearing them talk about the show and things that they have learned. And, it is even better when they can relate what they saw on the show to what we have been learning. This is when I know they are really taking in what I am teaching them and understanding it, thanks in part to educational shows like Blaze and the Monster Machines.
Being such big fans of Blaze and the Monster Machines, I made a point to get my hands on a copy of the recent Blaze and the Monster Machines: Rev Up and Roar! DVD, which hit store shelves back on Feb. 16th. This DVD featured four full-length episodes which have already aired on Nickelodeon, and that include a plethora of educational content including science and math knowledge. As a homeschooling mom I was so happy when I sat down and watched these episodes. A couple I had seen before with the girls, but the others made me get excited about creating fun lessons around the episodes, so that I could share the episodes with the girls and talk about them afterwards.
